  1. I begin to love General Prayut and his Army comrades. They are tackling the real ploblems, are set to improve the image of Thailand. A national cleaning day will leave an educational impact with most folks. A step into the right direction. All the green, yellow, blue and red clowns of the former governments have never come up with any of these necessities. Now a Fuehrer tells them on how to behave in a proper manner, and does not even try to hide evidence in the mass murder graves found in the south . . . it's a first, and it's the right way to act.

Last thing is I want to whitewash a coup, but for the sake of this country, it feels good some of the old look-away politics get flushed down the toilets.

More of this Mr General, well aimed. I salute with a loaded bum gun. No pun intended and no joking. Welcome in the Land of the happy orderly

  2. jawdropping sight today . . . . .guys set fire to the brushes and the rice field and happily work amidst the smokescreen, instead of leaving a fireguard and go home

their lungs will soon be charcoal black and Asthma is a raising ailment in the countryside But ya know, life is cheap in Eesaan.

it's the cost of mulching by tractors that makes farmers relent on stipple burning

  3. I didn't intend no insult when proposing to make charcoal from it . . . . as I had missed the note saying it is Mahi Maka.

We once faced the same situation when a structure built f Mahi Daeng was brought down on my GF's land. You just cannot sell or transport it without paperwork that has is 100% legal. These papers are often dealt only with tea money under the table. I would not risk anything in this direction, However here are a few members who gave you a vailid hint to circumvene the law. You are allowed to sell finished products made by this wood.

The slabs of Redwood were similar to those in your photo. We decided to make them into BEDS by ourselves as I have basic carpentering skills. BEDS are really easy to do, all you need is a planer, a jigsaw and a drill. It worked out well and we dispayed a sample bed at the steetside market along with photos of the others, and managed to sell them all. The average bed costs being 12,000 THB (just the frame).

Mahi Maka however is more valuable than redwood . . . . . made into veneer in many cases . . . . .but then there is the question, who in Thailand will coffer you a fair price. All the talk about how difficult it is to legalize each slab is another argument for the buyer to bring the price further down

  4. Try MAKRO, there's a chinese brand "White Rabbit" white asparagus, however only the canned version, 800 grms net 500 grms drained.

There is no white fresh asparagus in the whole of Thailand, only the green type ' noo man farang'

For freshly pulled asparagus , you'll have to visit Schwetzingen Germany, which is famous for it's fresh SPARGEL. You will have to go NOW because the season has already started and will not last any longer then into mid/end of June

  5. big boys. big toys.

Thai's go big fruits, and every fruit gets a correct treatment.

I once wanted to introduce a Power juicer, when I realized i can eat all these fruits

at the twist of a small knife.

  6. look, a 1000 Baht pocket money per day can get you a "good" living. Accomodation paid for.

From there on, the sky is the limit. If you got 5000 THB to spend every day, your can freeze your smile.

The average spending for a living is 300 Baht per day ( Acc and all paid)

Sex will move the picture upward, Beer and bars even more.

Up to you , the saying is here

  7. You should learn from this, it's always dangerous to move stones, debris, dry wood piles or old wood logs. In most case, there are scorpions nesting underneath. A bite will take you from a very nasty painful sting that you will fell weeks later, to a certain death when left untreated for 20 minutes.

in the scrub, torn, and wild countryside, whether it's been south Tennesee or south Eesaan, i ve adepted the habit to let my eyes scan the ground while I walk.

The risk is foreseeable. The deeper in the bush you are, the more dangerous your environment becomes.

I am surprised you mention you don't kill them . . . if i find any of them around the house, I will kill them instantly. They are not by far such an endangered species as we humans are !

  8. no pun intented, but have we all not been through the same thing in western countries ? Is it not that southern pointed slopes are prevalent for building, while northern slopes are less wanted ? Would you not prefer a breezy location towards a point in the valley where there willl never be any wind ?

All of my friends, when they choose locations where they intended to live, they stayed at the location for 24 hours, in order to "suck in" the FENG ,. . the powers that come with each place. I can only recommend it to anyone in the real estate trade, or better, to those who are going to invest into it.

Don't underestimate Feng Shui, but please don't make a marriage depend on it. If a woman puts her entire life under the reign of such an esoteric following, I would shun her. Except if you were willing to enter her world and enjoy it like she does.

my house, upon which i decided upon, has perfect powers. In the morning it is solemn, by midday it is bright, and by late afternoon it sighs with the declining light. The winds that prevail, are perfect.

  9. thanks for bringin light to it, Jingthing. I never assumed that 'grandfathers' who came here 17 years ago, can stay under lightened rules than newcomers. WOW, that's what I call news

However I guess it does and will not help anyone out there who wishes to enter him/herself into the retirement extension process.

  10. So you must be at least 67+ by now and have been in Thailand since 1998 on a retirement-extension status since.

How many of us can meet this criteria ?

    and my opinion on this:

(cool.png.pagespeed.ce.jz1nB6CMOIVslCCv-1 If less than 60 years of age but not less than 55 years of age, must have an annual fixed
income with funds maintained in a bank account for the past three months of no less than Baht
500,000 or have a monthly income of no less than Baht 50,000
    .

how would you have been able to enter Thailand before 1998 with a Non Imm O and gain retirement status, as an "under 50 year old" ?? Very contradictory. You simply CANNOT now be under the age of 60 if you came here to retire, in or before 1998.

  11. You mentioned it . . the permit is only valid within the border province. Moving further makes you entry illegal and it is at the hands of the officials who might pull you over and ask for tea money.

You have to be aware they can confiscate your vehicle, if you drive across the border province boundary.

As far as up to now, there are no clarifications to the proper procedure, nor are there any regulations written on paper regarding private car crossing into Cambodia. It seems we have to wait for ASEAN get into the tracks before anything changes.

You can do enter with your private car, with proper paperwork, into Malaysia and Laos.

  12. Thanks for the info Sapper. As far as trying ice take a quick google of the subject and you will see that I would need like 10,000 pounds of ice to cool a pool that size for maybe 40 minutes.

that's a real eye opener. Never thought of that.

So maybe the cooler described is the right way to go.

My Bangkok buddy has a 5 by 3 pool, with a jet. in the mornings the pool is shaded,

after the noon hours, the pool is out if sunlight.

Maybe you should position your pool better, so the sun's impact becomes irrelevant.

    Not rocket science, though.

What about a roofed pool shader on wheels ? Steel construction ?

  13. Maybe there's a company near your area, that delivers slashed blocks of ice to restaurants and the fish market. If you could hire one and drop a truckload of their ice into the pool, it might work for you.

  14. You can be sure it is not a copy when buying in the places like BigC, Tesco and Central Plaza Computer Stores, like the Banana IT.

SOME dealers at Pantip might try to booth a copy on your hardisc.

And I side with the posters, why would you want an outdated copy of Windows, for which the support will soon be terminated. If you have learned Win7, you will also learn how to work with Win 10. Just don't put your head into the sand and insist it must be something that you have become used to. just do it, learn and proceed !

I have also ordered from InvadeIT a few times, good service, good & genuine products

  15. Why would you put your life at a risk ? It's her house, and in case the two of you split, it will still be her house.

Given she might then want to sell it, mainly because she prefers the money to a house in a place where she does not want to be.

However, now since you insist to live in the house for the rest of the 20-year lease term the two of you agreed upon, you are giving her a reason to seek to remove you. You will be in her way. A killer does not cost this much in these latitudes.

It's the situation that applies, when we here in this forum often say, be willing and ready to give up all you invested and walk away free and undisturbed.

When I bought my girlfriend a house, I accepted it is a one way street. If we split, I will walk away, even in case we split in a friendly manner. If we split in hatred, what would a lease contract do me any good ? No, on the contrary, it will put my life in danger if I dare to stay inside "my" house and don't pay any rent because that's what is written in the contract. Please wake up and ask your girlfriend to burn the lease paper. Live together with her IN THE house OR don't live with her AND the house.

Ah yes, and for the rest of your belongings I hope you have already put up a written and legal will. It is of course not needed if you have children from a previous marriage, as they will automatically be your benificaries. In case you wish to inherit anything to your girlfriend, make sure the wills have a notary's OK. Try to read the ThaiVisa topics on HOW TO MAKE UP A LEGAL WILL.
