  1. I got a multiple entry permit ( 3900 Baht) , as I am travelling back and forth several times during a year. I do this for two years. The 90 -day report duty will always start anew upon entering, that's for sure. Just now with a new passport, I was wondering what to expect . .

As said did you get a Re Entry Permit from Immigration?

If not it has died and you will have to start all over again.

  2. Ah, Ok. I did not realize I am here on an Extension of my retirement based Non Immi Visa, if these term it correctly. I had it extended by the Phrachaup Kiri Khan Immigration Office on December 14. In January I moved in with my GF in Kantharalak Amphoe, and registered my new adress of stay at Phu Sing .

So as far as goes, they will not transfer the Non Immi multiple entry stamp into my new passport in Subvarnabhumi - I will have to wait until extension of the permit is due and then receive a new stamp in my new passport ? This is useful information, thank you !

  3. I am in Germany now, and will travel back to Thailand by June. I have applied for a new passport which is due to arrive by next month. In my old passport, I got a Retirement Visa valid until January 2012. I will carry both passport on me when entering Thailand at Swampee. Will the Immigration officers at Swampee transfer my retirement visa into my new passport , or will I have to enter by Visa exempt, and transfer the retirement visa at my local Immigration office ( which is i Chong Som , near Buri Ram )? Or will they let me enter without any stamp and tell me to sort it out at my local Immigration ?

  4. They clearly are in LOVE , and the feelings overcame them ! Nothing wrong with it except they are in the wrong place where it is against the law.

But wait !! What does the report say ?? 2 pm ??? The pictures show a NIGHTIME scenery ! It s 2 PAST MIDNIGHT ! Posters who claim Pattaya a family destination and are offended, should keep in mind that children are not allowed around the beach at this time of the day. Neither a "huge" crowd ! I bet the couple thought the nightfall would cover their act , but obviously the crowds are gathering quickly when they sniff action.

I can only congratulate our russian fellow people to their open minded, heartful behaviour !

  5. No, you don t need a Thai Driver's license. It is sufficient to show your national license from your home country. Actually, the law is that you need an International License, but this is never enforced by the police in Thailand. And I have never been asked for an International License by a car or scooter rental.

After initial three months of stay, you will have to provide a Thai license ! If you leave the country and enter again on a tourist visa, the three month rule starts over again

  6. I saw it coming. By tighter visa rules, drive out all the Cheap Charlies and the boozefighters and Scarecrow-Types. Next comes big advertisement in China that Thaland is the southernmost luxury holiday destination of a Chinese-like homeland ( not truly a homeland but the ones in charge think in these terms ). Next step, tighten the visa rules a bit more. Result : Asia for the Asian new wealthises. The chines middle class is by far more promising a customer than fasr, ugly, misbehaving "sex"-Bomber tourists. The ones who have sttled down in the sticks will be fairly tolerated, as they do not spoil the picture of the "tourist destination". The transforamation has just begun. The chinese Yuan will compete with the Dollar. Fact is the Thais prefer chines tourist to "white longnoses". The long term holiday motto will be " come to China's most south !"

I long suspected they want to change the "image". This cannot be done in a sudden., but these news show that a transformation is under way. Not to mention that the formerly "poor" country girl from Eesarn now is the proud owner of rice filed re-developed to a rubber farm. Since germany recently introduced a duty to winter-tires, each car needs 8 tires. Which leads to newborn rubber baronesses , driving unpaid-for pickups and watching unpaid-for TV's and sending their kids to non-proven so called schools where they learn to sing and play football..

Welcome to Thailand ! Am I off-topic ?? I apologize ! OP was about tourism. I apologize fro being so off topic. But the tourist thing still clings to my mind. If it ever bothered government . . what's the outcome ?? 7% of the GDP ?? Did you ever wonder why Thais don t give a fuc_k for your presence ?

There were times when official stats were 3% on tourism. Not so long ago. It's about time some expats realize what in reality their often claimed "importance" is made of. Absolutely neglectible !

I am happy to contribute to a family of few, have bettered their lives a littel bit. I always thought that being a tourist I am paying to touds. Now i feel i am paying to families and their spouses directly.

The topic is TOURISM. Well, if I bogged you with this, Sorry !

  7. I brought my sheets from Germany, since I did not find any in the local markets. In Hua Hin, the Market Village Home Pro sold some in colours, but at a price three times as much as you pay for in Germany !

Just after we had equipped our beds with the white linen sheets, we suddenly found a source in Bangkok ! In the Grand Pratunam Center , I do not remember which floor but as we started on the topmost floor, i think it was just one below. At one of the stalls in a backside aisle ( as seen from streetside) , there is a dealer who sells hotel towels all sizes. He also got a good selection of white linen bedsheets.

  8. Best statement I have ever read , concerning the complication warping the case. To call 1962 a fact and that from thereon no more alterations should have been made, is by far the smartest comment ever made in favour of both sides. If they could agree on this, the problem would be solved.

I was on the cliffs opposing the temple in the second week of November, and saw the road being shaped from the Cambodia lowlands upward to the temple area. Cambodia could manage the temple vicinity by itself. I saw relaxed Thai military , and everybody in very peaceful mood. They even announced to us that a week later the access would be continually opened wider and we could be able walk through to the temple by the end of November.

It seems that Yellow Shirt hot heads have but destroyed the peace talks and shattered all positive hopes. Shame on them. The civilized parts of the world should openly tell them who they are.

  9. No spaghetti ! Simply buy yourself a good map , like the large spiral bound DIN A3 Thailand road atlas. It shows the Bangkok Ring road number 9 , which is not much of an italian noodle but really easy to follow. I feared the same, but after I went the first rounds, found it easy. My suggestion is, coming from the Petchkasem Road number 4, take the 35 via Samut Songkhram, and from there onto the number 9 BKK Ring Road into direction Bang Bua Thong ( Ayutthaya). It is easy to miss the exit from the 35 to the number 9, so keep your eyes open ! And don t go the other way around Bangkok - well, if you miss, it s not that bad, then stick with it , you will end up on the same number 9 Ring road, but paying a fee, and it will lead you to the conjunction of the 9 with the number 1 north of Bangkok as well. Taking the left ring road round Bangers is better and a little bit shorter. Then from Wang Wian Noi number 1 via Saraburi, then number 2 and finally in the direction to Nakhon Ratchasima, take the 24 to Buriram / Surin.

You can t make the trip in one day, however. Forget about trying so. Driving at night can be really dangerous , everywhere there are ghost lorries without lights and motosais with drunk driverscutting into your way. Make it a two day journey, with the first leg to, maybe in Pranburi - Hua Hin / Cha Am, second leg to Srisaket the other day. Each leg will be around 730 kilometers, and you should allow yourself some midday nap for about one hour. Leaving in the early morning leaves you enuff time to check out an accomodation for the between the legs night break while there is still daylight. And you can relax at a nice dining place in Pranburi or Hua Hin. Have a safe trip and lotsa fun !

  10. hey ! Far f....g out ! As for your question, where are you heading ? do you really wish to travel anywhere else ? I would keep going LOW PROFILE , go on as you maintained all the time 25 years to now, don t get into conflicts with no one, finally to achive a BBQ at your local Wat. Who the h..l will then ask you for your permits or visa ?

Regarding your question . . . . no idea, but as confronting 'immigration with a 25 year overstay, it could result into a fine plus blacklisted . . have no idea but being you I'd say, congrats, and stay low profile ! I am aware that there are many more likes you in LOS . . . my best wishes to em all !

  11. Maybe the guy was half passed out fell off his bed on to the bottle sitting on the floor by the bed. He was so drunk he pushed the broken bottle under the bed and laid back down to pass out.How could he see the bleeding back he didnot have eyes in the back of his head and if so drunk ready to pass out perhaps didnot feel any pain maybe a little discomfoort at worst.

I flly agree with you. Having been literally "stone drunk" before, one can t realize everything that happens. If he shattered the bottle on the floor before, then a while later stumbled and fell onto it , rolling over the debris, it could have caused wounds that he failed to notice. When a piece of glass sticks in your skin or an intravenous needle , you harldy feel it ! Being drunk, you would feel it even less. So the assumption that he grew weaker and passed out, thus bleeding to death on his bed, has become my favourite in this case ! The pieces of evidence slowly fit together, my dearest private hobby investigators !

  12. Not at all. For a few days straight, the Euro is gaining against the US Dollar, thus winning against the Thai Baht. The US Dollars gains against the Thai Baht in the same period have been marginal. Nothing changed in Thai government or financial situation.

  13. years ago I visited a jewelry factory in a Bangkok suburb. The girls who sat at small tables , putting together jewelry bits and assorting items, were guarded by a female watchdog sporting a wooden cane. Upon asking , I was told that sometimes when they are slow, or fall halfway asleep, they will receive a beating.

It seems to be normal in Thailand in some factories. Does not surprise me any more. When you know how hard some people have to work just to make a few Baht for survival, then you don t wonder the ones that have a "better" job in a factory will feel well off, despite the structurally lacking "basic rights" !

  14. I haven t come across an ATM yet which asks me if I accept the "bank rate" when I use my foreign Visa Card . Do you mean the ATM asks you if you accept the current exchange rate ? Never came across, however, well , if you want to withdraw money from a foreign account, using your credit card or other, the ATM will ask you if you agree with the "surcharge fee" of 150 Baht - regardless how high the amount you withdraw is . 150 Baht is the standard fee for withdrawal from a foreign account / card, so be prepared to answer yes. I always pick a minimum of 20,000 Baht so the fee really does not bother me much. If of course you plan to withdraw 2000 Baht only, the 150 Baht fee make up a hefty percentage. and BTW, my credit card issueing bank in Germany will refund the fees arisen with the VISA Card on foreign ATM's for me , so I also press YES when the ATM asks me for the receipt slip. Back in Germany I send the collected slips to my bank, and they will fully refund all fees. Maybe this helps . . . :)

  15. I bought one which had a WAHL, USA logo on the package and on the trimmer housing in Hua Hin Village market on a stall right outside the food court. However when I got home, i noticed the two screws holding the the two-part blades together were not aligned in a correct manner. The trimmer just would not work as it was supposed to be. I assume some of this stuff they sell in stalls is second-of-choice factory output ( items that have not passed a straight quality test but are sold to dumb customers nevertheless because they ask no questions ) - or it is plain counterfeit item - sorry for my cynic remark but this is my experience here in the Land of Smiles. So if you d choose to buy there, don t hesitate to unpack and check the set.

I have then at home bought a genuine WAHL clipper , Made in USA, they are switchable between AC 110 and 220 Volts and I haven t been let down again !

  16. not an agent, but a perfect website for searching a condo or apartment ! The listing are all with contact telephone number. Happy search.

As I am not allowed to give a hyperlink here, something else you can use for google search :

    9apartment bangkok

  17. Talking about numbers, the impact of tourism on Thai economy is actually very poor, seen by percentage to the GDP. And the impact of Farang husbands is 99,9% reserved for the family they supply, and on nobody else. Or do you rate your visit in a restaurant upcountry being important for the local economy ? Some people here mentioned it could actually been detrimental, and so do I think. This season the farang have emptied the shelves containing coconut milk in the local markets , so there is no more Tom Kha and no more creamy Tom Yam Goong left for the locals ;) ;) !
