  1. Has any one EVER imagined THAILAND without its Thai Royal Army ?

Would it be a Democracy when few could grab it all for themselves ?

Though a lot has been achieved compared to neighborhood countries isn't it !

For ever, large Thai ( Chinese indeed ) business families want the power and one Loudest Talker stick his neck out from a group supporting his views to become the PM of course with expectations in return.

When politically that has become a nuisance for The Thai Nation indeed The Thai Royal Army has to clean it up and they do it more often softly than deadly....

  2. Well at least the department of health has some idea about diplomacy....."expressed its concerns that multi-national food producers had been publicizing unhealthy food to Thais".....They never came right out and said it was the farangs fault.....

    Absolutely correct comments.

Within two years I had seen Thai Ladies sizes on increase in Bangkok after CocaCola products were allowed in Thailand if I remember well 1990..................and all the junk food fashion followed up.......pity only to have to suppress sugar in Thai food to have the healthiest food available at home....

  3. Here is a free tip for Thailand. In Las Vegas , Nevada, the city " leaders" decided they did not want the reputation for the city to be sin and gambling. They then tried to redo all publicity to push for family tourism. Revenues fell WAY off, they came to their senses, and the new promotion became" what goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas". Thailand can certainly do whatever it wants, but if it kills off the sex trade just be sure to have regular jobs for all the girls from Issan...... This kind of government social engineering is made all the more funny by the fact that 80 to 90 percent of the sex trade is for the benefit of and used by Thai men. But I suppose that segment will not be going away. :whistling:

On a side note, if they really do want family tourism, the government is going to have to do something about the endless scams. Those do not go well with families. Kids watching their dad get beaten up by jet ski thugs could have a detrimental effect on future families visiting......

    Riekel

You are so right mainly Thai Men are the users and the foreigners are Isaan Ladies angels in comparaison......

  4. Perhaps a new class of long term visa for foreigners should be created to fill this need?

Otherwise who in their right mind is going to foster a child when every 12 months when there is the potential be saying to her or him " sorry but your back to the orphange because our visa wasn't renewed"

Too funnny, .... I was thinking the same thing when I read the story title ...

Come to Thailand ... spend lots of money ... raise our orphans ...

but make sure you leave thailand every three months ... or go to

    Immigration to check in ...

lier poker players have become all the foreigners in the Thai Casino..............I am not a gambler at all personnally and I keep my cards by my chest at all times.......still learning bt not dreaming !

  5. I got robbed of 14M and a son.

Such is life, BEFORE you know its culture "and after", as long as you learn your way.

I picked up and started again.

    So be it.

Such is life. More fool me! - as it was my error.

Believe me, I'm happier now with less than before! , cos I now have nothing.

Thailand is full of good women. It isn't as bad as many posters complain about. Have faith.

Don't put your assets into the view of anyone, apart from your accountant ABROAD. :jap:

Do that, and you are fine!

    -m.

so sad to read your story because your Thai son will miss his father for ever ( that explains why so many become ladyboys and boys are never kept under control growing a huge ego because raised by a mother only and grand parents often much too liberal to satisfy only their entertainment pleasures not to improve or educate rightly.....) and those Thai women are extremely selfish, self centered not giving a s**t to their Thai males and stealing from farangs at any opportunity. It nearly happened to me the same but I strongly with calm reacted kicking out from our life the parents and parasite teaching our son only Thai by giving him many hours a day with me enlightening his/my life with English speaking now added French kid song plus an other brother in few weeks expected. It is worth the fight and never give up this is your our life.

I have been fighting every one with smiles and the more I express a No I am respected because smiling yes like we are abused.

It is nice you had survived, congratulations to you and thanks for sharing but so unfair to you......to him.....

  6. Don't rent anything in thailand keep your money in your pocket and your body intact.

UNFORTUNATELY AFTER 35 years visiting here especially most of those superb attractive islands and more inland this is the correct attitude and the wisest recommendation to avoid to be blackmailed one way or an other YOU COULD but only you are aware of the risks in advance ( jeeps, motorbikes, motorcycles, cycles, jet skis, etc...etc... ) .

    Frustrations are for farangs.

  7. I don't really think you need a tour package as Singapore is not that difficult to get around, what with good taxi's and subway.

Personally, I like Hotel Re!. It's reasonably priced (for Singapore) and within easy walking distance of the subway and Clarke Quay. Clarke Quay has dozens of small restraunts and bars.

There is also the tour of the river, and you must see the Marina Bay Sands hotel. Sentosa Island, where Universal is located. Finally, Tawandang German Brewery has two locations in Singapore. If you have a discount card from here, they will honor it, but not for the 15% you get here, only 10%.

Singapore ain't cheap, but it is a great place to visit. Have fun.

not that much to see or do in Singapore the Sea city state we love to hate. Basically in 48 hours you have seen all and do not waste your time trying it is an empty heart place where every one is in the claws of the rulers family.....EXCELLENT TRANSIT CHANGI AIRPORT. IN....AND....OUT

  8. I am not so sure about pre-paids in Thailand as of yet,it will be travellers checks and your ATM card i think.....no problem though ATM'S are everywhere so it is always easy to get cash in most places.

Bangkok Bank do visa cards also maybe you can chat with your branch manager for a quick upgrade if you use some of your funds as a sort of pre-pay plan?

Better to go to Bangkok Bank Headquarter in Silom Road than any of their branches less aware of all the benefits for Foreigners themselves dealing mainly with Thai people.

  9. To trade in stocks in Thailand, you need to open a trading-account with a local broker (your bank), it is a little paperwork, but not to complicated and you need to deposit minimum 1 million baht into the account as a foreigner. After that you are free to trade over the internet in realtime. Profits are taxfree !! To follow stocks and get ideas what to trade, your broker (I have K-Securities) will supply you with newsletters and e-mail alerts. Or you can check on settrade.com where several brokerages are giving advice during tradinghours (10-12.30 and 14.30-16.30 Mon-Fri) After taking in all information, comes the difficult part: making the the decission what to do or not to do.

I have been doing it more than 3 years now, and apart from being interesting, I am actually making money!! It is really very simple: Buy RED, sell GREEN.

Very intelligent strategy indeed. Do not lose your hand by talking about your luck just carry on you are right.

    Cheers

  10. i personally am delighted with True Move for broadband internet/telephone etc.... never had any troubles using them for more than 4 years but of course if one is not living in an area serviced by a lot of True subscribers of course it is a different issue.

They are supportive and offering values- come on see the reality.

Which alternatives do you have where you are living ?

  11. we had similar problem in Bangkok. Not happy to risk to have the diamond gone for days or more we went to a gold shop across the jewellery's shops in the same Mall where they fix Buddhas etc...within few minutes in front of us the diamond was reinserted properly sealed with sumo very hard glue very neatly for THB 100 since we are happy and of course careful knowing it can go out again

  12. in South Africa everything is either black or white. ( not yellow or red in other countries ).

Once upon a time, two gentlemen were riding a bicycle at night without lights on.

The police stopped them and issued to them two formal tickets.

The two were however the local Region District Attorneys no one in Court to judge their offense both wanted lifted.

They agreed between themselves One at a time to take the Judge position.

The first one says : You have been caught riding a bicycle at night on that specific date, at this location but exceptionally I forgive you

because you were not on your own.

    Breaking for lunch together.

The turn of the second one to be Judge whom was the one not guilty says to the other one previously his Judge:

You have been caught riding a bicycle at night on that specific date, at this location and I fine you USD 50.

Chocked with this sentence because when he was the same morning the Judge he forgave him why then himself to become guilty !

The new judge said I repeat my sentence of USD 50 because we had the case this morning and I want this to cease definitely.

The is no room between the fire and the fire brigade this is FIRE....Unbelievable so many seem to swim in fire and burn themselves

    to ashes in it.

All these not at all sweet neither cheap talking is immensely useless and wasting so much time to too many by counter arguing with more words not reflecting any facts neither any acts.

  13. i'm scheduled to fly in there on sunday..thank you thai visa for alerting me to this unheard of case of corruption and , god forbid, prostitution..i'm cancelling immediately and going to pattaya where i've heard it's a lot safer!!

I concur. Outrageous behavior. But, before I do anything rash, perhaps I should run over to 'That's Siam' and absolutely confirm this situation personally.

P.S.: I now call Pattaya: PartyYeah!

By the way for a woman to make money or a living outside her family village.

How much do the parents receive when one woman of theirs is invited to go to the city ?

How much does she has to pay to be accepted some where she can offer her services and how much per day as a rent ?

How much does she has to pay for what they call protection that is pimping ? and to the Police to be legal ? or quiet !

how much does she spend for her own health protection she herself has to pay for and to be serious with to please her customers indeed?

How much kickback to the tuk tuk, motorcycle taxi, taxi etc.... the hotel front door man, hotel security, etc...?

How much she is able to send to her family ?

What kind of paperworks does she need to exist in her own country or in a foreign country ?

When are they going to be respected as useful to the male society ( local or foreign ) and at what age are they going not to be forced to do it ?

The demand is recurrent, perpetual and of course all is transacted in cash though indeed much too many want their cuts as it is an economic chain so much Asian.

Let's be honest, human and supportive not obstructive.

One day I was in an avenue or road not far from The Mandarin Oriental looking for a taxi ( not a limousine ) to take me to the airport coming out from that hotel. One driver offered me a drive at a fix price THB 2000 though I laughed as it should not be more than THB 400 but he said in proper English if you can pay a woman THB 2000 for whatever services why not myself offering you a secure ( no mention of sex ) drive to the airport....( Mandarin Oriental limousines are even higher ) He nearly got the job but I did congratulate him for his smart comment. Amazing, Amazing Thailand

  14. If Thaksin cared one ounce about reconciliation then he would not be doing what he has been since his conviction and he certainly wouldn't have picked his personal puppet as party leader let alone be involved in the party at all. When people talk of divisions in Thailand it is Thaksin's it is impossible to avoid speaking of Thaksin. There is no other person in Thailand who creates such emotional divisions among people than Thaksin.

It is so obvious to our western eyes but so much similar to the American Dream so many dream of to achieve in their own Asian life.

Words over here are facts and Chinese minds are Champions to naturally having using them 24/7 non stop to even kill with....
