I think there is a category missing or the second one is the wrong way round. I believe the insurance is more appropriate to the short term visitor, the largest percentage of defaulters are people on holiday.
Those here on a long term basis should have the option to meet their own expenses.
Spot on!

Its incredible how 550m is deemed to expensive to up rate expat pensions when Rishi Sunak can suddenly find over 40 b!
By comparison its a drop in the ocean but it seems there is no will, but, please keep sending us your taxes, HMRC will not forget you.

My stepson has been learning Mandarin at school for several years now. Many schools teach it.
A puppet state on the horizon for few subs, tanks etc perhaps?

Thailand -4.1
I offered the same to have a conversation with the local pupils/students, offer not taken up as I suspect my command of the English would have shown how poor the incumbent English teacher's standard was and we must not lose face at all costs, even the country's future.
They do seem to be wedding themselves to the Chinese above all else, not sure that is right but then I would say that not being a Chinaperson.

Two weeks ago we - 3 persons - went to Hungry Wolf’s in CR for dinner. The food wasn’t bad, but what I found unacceptable was the meal of person two arriving 10 minutes after person one got served, and it took another 20 minutes for person three to get food - exactly the same order as for person two - on the table. We went to a restaurant to have dinner together..............
Yes that really pisses me off, no return is the tip.

A bit of good news maybe folks. HMRC has confirmed that personal allowances will be going up for 2021/22 so what does that mean? Well if they go by the September inflation figure of 0.5% that mean 62.50 to add to the 12500, however a glimmer of hope the Institute of Charted Accountants has said that a rise of 570 gbp would be more in line with current circumstances, so lets hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

I wonder how long the certificate of vaccination will be valid for? Or the rules change whilst you were off visiting family, more questions than answers in this current thriller!

Looks like another potential revenue stream to me, not mention all those pick ups specially converted to belch out the black stuff and impress others on faecesbook etc.

Fake news! Come to Thailand and see the new attractions, water cannons and soon submarines!

It seems the Govt have ordered 26m shots of the vaccine, everyone needs 2 shots with a population 67m this does not add up.
Even after the injections dont expect to go back to the life you knew, restrictions will still apply or perhaps I should say that your life is not under your control you will need to comply, you will see.
Have look on youtube for tom woods, look for the one with just under 20 minutes, see what you think.

Whats the point if half the population dont know there is a special holiday thanks to Prayuth and mates? Everywhere has loudspeakers and loud speaker trucks, tell the people are they not the ones they want to travel?

I have yet to see any plan anywhere in how we get out this mess.
No Government anywhere has ever defeated a virus, at best they learn to live with it.
Lockdowns and quarantines dont work, they just push the problem down the line.
Governments have taken the people's common sense away and forced draconian rules upon them, in effect taken away their freedoms and they may not get them back in full now.
The majority of Governments have followed the science and followed it for 7 or 8 months and their predictions have not proved to be correct. If these scientific experts had been in the football industry they would have been sacked for poor results and yet the powers that be still follow them.
History has shown and will show that we have to learn to live with this virus, weigh up the risks we take and get on with the life we have, the one life we will have.

According to the list it reads to me that if you have spouses which would mean a Marriage Visa, look at the question and answer on 13th November on the Thai Embassy website in the UK and then you make your mind up if you want to take a chance on entry.

I am at Krungsri and I take out a fixed term deposit for 3-6-9-12 months with the help of the cashier who pulls all the possibilities up on his screen and make a decision, as the account number is in my name it just rolls from one term to another and Immigration are happy with this, I think the one I have right now is for .65% and due for renewal in April.

Anyone in the UK should go the Thai Embassy website and check who is allowed to enter the country there is ample information about "Who can enter the country during the covid-19 crisis?".
There is a list of who can enter and RETERMENT is not on the list, regardless of if you have the money in the bank and/or a re-entry permit. If time runs out and you are out of the country you might have to start the whole process again with a multi entry visa plus whatever else is required at that time then convert back to a Retirement Visa later.
You can leave a comment or ask a question and you will get answer.
Have a look at the question posed on 13th of November about retirement and the answer.
A this is coming from the "official" Thai and not "what I think" or "how I interpret the situation" base you must make your own mind up about what you do but it looks like it could be a long wait, people on retire are older and therefore seen as perhaps more likely to contract the virus and bring it back with them.
