I've sent a few things over in the last year....Royal Mail tracked and they have always arrived 7-10 days. However, my last parcel was sent on 19th May and seems to have disappeared since it left the UK. I'm sure it will turn but agree is got a lot slower.

I'm flying KLM a couple of weeks after you from Edinburgh with KLM(Also non O imm). I'm as certain as can be it will be OK...I've never had a problem before with a one way flight on a visa. Good luck with travels

My wife (thai) used this company. I just explained that she didn't need a Covid test as she was a thai national. They were fine with that... It was done online in a few minutes and certificate sent straight after the call. Can't remember the cost.... Somewhere between 50-70.

in the UK, nd probably many other countries, even illegal immigrants do have an access to free health service. Nobody asks about visa or even passport. Just proof of address, like bank statement, to register at the local clinic and have access to all hospital system.
I would think that all people living in the UK can ask for vax.
I know thailand is poorer, but those few dollars per head is not much. Everybody pays a lot for their visas, as well as paying VAT on all goods and services
Sorry but that isn't true.... My wife (Thai) had to show her residency card when registering with the doctor in UK (Scotland) . When it was due expire they contacted us and ask for an updated card. They wouldn't accept her without it. They seem to be on top of this these days.
I do agree that emergency treatment isn't really checked.

My understanding in the UK is NHS England will give you a card saying you have had the vaccine. However, NHS Scotland aren't issuing anything. Nothing like a joint approach!

Yes, video or even telephone conversations are fine to get a fit to fly certificate.
-
As far I'm aware they should be two seperate documents...in essence they are different requirements . I wouldn't risk one document.
The fit to fly can be issued by a uk gp...or by a private clinic. My wife used a company called freedom health in Harley Street. It was an online consultation that latest a few minutes. It cost 55 pounds but think its 75 now. There is also a uk based doctor in Thailand that's issuing them now for 400 baht that a few folk have been using (pm I can post you the info)
Ps There isn't a standard document fit to fly document as such. However, as long as it states you are fit to fly its good.

My wife (thai) got a ftf from a private clinic in London (freedom health). It was an online consultation and only lasted a few minutes. He was happy to issue the ftf without a Covid test. He did ask if she had any symptoms and added to the letter tgat she showed no symptoms of covid
Ps the cost was £55.... However think its gone up to £75

Hi I done my wife's a couple of weeks. It sounds like something has gone wrong if you don't get the six digit reference number as it automatically comes up when you finish the application. I would start a new application. My missus coe application was turned around in 24hours. Ps we didn't get an email stating this.... Just logged in the next day with the six digit number and it was approved.
Fit to fly is usually just a video or phone call. I used freedom health in harley Street. You can book it on line... I did it the Friday morning before the flight. The doctor emails you the fit to fly. The cost was 55pounds. Pps mention its for a thai citizen and that a Covid treat isn't required.
It's also handy to complete the tor 8 medical certificate you can download this from the Thai Airways website. It will save time when they arrive.
.
If you need a hand pm me. Cheers

My wife is due to go into SQ next Monday. She's got a couple of friends who have gone through the process and none of them have been allowed out for excerise after first test. Therefore, there may be different rules for SQ!

Actually this is a normal police service and totally above board - they attach a red sign box on outside of gate that roving police will then sign as checked with date/time for a set fee.
I'll take it back its just something I've never heard about. On the face of it sounds a good idea.

Sounds like we will be neighbours my house is in a village in the same area.
My build was a few years my wife's family built it (They are all in trade). Surprisingly, they done a good job only a few minor snags.
As you may know the area does suffer from frequent outages of electric and water so you may consider this (i.e Solar power, water tanks etc)
I've never heard of giving the police money to keep an eye on it. So I wouldn't do this. There are many farang in the area with houses of all shapes and sizes and I don't one who pay this.
Good luck with build hope it all goes well.

Hi Folks,
Looking for a bit of advice in trying to get my stepson a thai passport. A little background. Me and my wife live in the UK. We are hoping to bring my wife's son over for a holiday to the UK later this year. He's due to finish school soon and is 16 years old. He's lived with my wife's parents since he was a small boy. His biological father hasn't seen him since he was born and no longer lives in Thailand.
We have contracted the local passport office (which is khon kaen). They have advised my wife will need to go to the local amphur office to get papers signed to say she has sole responsibility for the child and then apply for the passport.
However, it would be difficult for my wife to make two trips to Thailand this year. Has anyone any experience/tips of getting a thai passport without the parents being present in Thailand?

Just a word of caution when I was last in Thailand I updated my bank details so I could use my thai sim card. When I returned to the UK there was a nice letter from my bank stating they beleived I may no longer be a uk resident (due to changing to a thai sim). The letter advised that I needed to provide evidence that I was resident (which also to be notarised) otherwise they would have a duty to inform Hmrc.

I worked as a volunteer in Thailand for a year albeit I had a non o visa I didn't have a work permit (which you need - officially). Also a lot of the shorter term workers only had a tourist visa. However, the organisation I worked for had a gentlemans agreement with immigration that this would be OK. The organisation has been operating like this for over 20 years and never had a problem.
Check with who are planning on work with and see agreements they have in place.

I think the UK state pension age goes up in October 2020 to 66 so if you are just turning 64 you might still get it at 65.
Agree with the last poster there are older teachers getting jobs these days.
Best of luck

Interesting to know.
To be fair last year I sent a swift payment from my UK bank to Thailand which meant "missing". It took just over 5 weeks to get the money back. I never manage to find out why... All the banks involved denied responsibility.
I've used transferwise ever since and never had a problem.
Therefore, it would seem whatever method you use their is always a small risk things can go wrong.

Hi All,
Looking for a bit of advice
My wife has been in the UK for 4 years so can apply for ILR towards the middle of next year. We’ve been working hard to improve her English and working through the Life in the UK test. However, she has always struggled a little (although its mainly confidence) with her English. I’m just wondering worse scenario if she can’t pass the B1 English test can she apply for a further period of FLR? If so, would then just be a case of sitting the A2 English test (At the time of her last extension she only needed A1).
Many Thanks

Hi All,
Thanks for the comments - I've managed to find some emails (albeit most have been deleted). The money was paid to DHL in Thailand although I don't have a confirmation email from them ;-( that I can find. The parcel was delivered a couple of days after I paid it. The letter chasing the payment is from the Krungthai bank....so seems strange. Unfortunately, my in-laws binned the letters - I've asked them to send me the next one they get. Starting to wonder if its some sort of bank handling charge for an overseas payment!
I've the original waybill number so might drop DHL an email and see if they can confirm they received payment.

Hi all
Looking for a bit of help - Four years ago (Oct 2013) we sent a parcel from the UK to Thailand via DHL. It was low value just some clothes/sweets etc for my wife's children. The parcel got held in customs and we had to pay 5000bt customs tax for it to be released. Anyway, we made the payment and it was delivered (minus a couple of things which seemed to go missing!). Last month my mother in law (who the parcel was addresses too) has received 3 letters requesting payment for an outstanding balance relating to 5000bt for the customs payment . They had also received a similar letter about a year ago but just ignored it.
This seems all rather strange to me - surely customs wouldn't have issued the parcel if they never received payment. Unfortunately, I've changed bank a couple of years so don't have evidence I paid it (even thou I remember making the payment)
Has anyone had a similar problem? Could it be some sort of scam?
Thanks

Hi All,
Following on from this I managed to get her a visa - took a while......The visa starts on the 28th Jan can she fly out from Thailand on the 27th which would of course mean arriving on the 28th or would the airline likely reject her?
Thanks

Hi my wife (living in the UK) went back to Thailand 6 months ago. So I'll try and help....Thai citizens do not require a Covid test to re-enter Thailand. However, you are correct the airline may - Thai airways don't. Correct Thai's do not require additional insurance. The COE is relatively straightforward for Thai's.
Naturally, they could go for SQ which would be free of charge - My wife did and stayed in a very good hotel (but its a bit luck of the draw!).
