  1. I too am leaning towards the 3.2 if the price isn't too steep compared to the top-line 2.2...

That doesn't seem too much considering the bigger engine, enhanced safety electronics, and side and curtain air-bags.

In theory, the 3.2L engine should cost somewhere between 40K and 70K extra over the 2.2L - but as Ford have not yet released specific model info for TH, we don't know whether it'll be possible to simply step up engine size without having to also change/compromise on model grades...

  2. Yes, But I'd go for the Wildtrack, and even the salegirl doesn't know what are the main differences, althought I helped myself and read the brochure.

Very useless staff mostly I would say, hopefully the truck will sell itself easily by all its features

I think the other difference (again not visible) is that the 3.2 is only available in 4x4 configuration (at least initially). Near the begininning of this thread, there are some links to Ford TH sales brochures which clearly lay-out (in English too) the specs for each model. The Ford TH website doesn't have much info (but you can check-out the Ford Australia site) on the 3.2 model for comparisons.

I too am leaning towards the 3.2 if the price isn't too steep compared to the top-line 2.2...might even wait a year or so until they get all the manufacturing kinks worked out and they do their first 2.0 revisions.

  3. Ok, so nobody included Ford sales (i've just been at Chonburi branch) know when the truck ordered would be delivered ..

I just wonder how can you place an order without knowing when you would actually get the car,

especially during this flood trouble which can add much more delays on the delivery.

By the way, the double cab 2.2 XLT can be seen at Sriracha Robinson until october 3rd, I'd like to see the wildtrack in real, if anyone know..

The 2.2 and 3.2 are almost the same visually...the main differences being the standard 18" wheels and larger tires on the Wildtrac and the roll-over bars and included liner in the bed. Most of the other stuff like upgraded safety electronics and the side and curtain airbags aren't visible.

So if you've seen the 2.2 XLT you can have a good idea for the look of the 3.2.

  4. I also like Indian food but so far my experiences in Pattaya have not been great. The "thoroughbred" Indian places tend to have small portions at big prices and Western style restaurants try their hand at so called International ( British Colonial type) of curry not very successfully so far, IMHO.

Driving down Soi Nern today I noticed in passing what seems to be a bit like a hole in the wall with a sign: Curry Station - Indian Food! Anyone knows/has tried the place?

If it's the place near the muslim school about a kilometre up from suk, its called My Home. I think their food is pretty good and cheap but I'm no Indian food expert. The chicken tikka masala and saffron rice is a particular favorite.

  5. Reverse osmosis machines. 1B/ltr.

    The water is fine.

Trouble with RO is that it makes the water acidic, unless you add minerals back into it it is actually bad for your health over a long period!

Better than drinking sewage water though!

Do you have technical source which shows that RO turns water acidic as cant see how this would happen, stripping minerals is possible which would changes a slightly alkalis water back towards a PH of 7.0 (neutral) but this is not the same as making some acidic

My understanding is that RO treatment, removes all the healthy minerals from the water (which also gives spring water its taste) along with the contaminants. These same minerals are also found naturally at fixed percentages in the human bloodstream.

The problem is if one drinks RO "demineralized" water, you dilute the percentage of the minerals in your bloodstream and to maintain the balance, the body draws them out of the bones thereby weakening them (they leach out). Thus occurs only with long-term consumption of RO water...not short-term use during a crisis.

  6. I was in TOPs and asked the Manager, when I can expect to buy Drinking Water gain - he told me, he has no Informations and does not know any Timeframe

It took me now 1 Hour to buy 8 Boxes of my LM Blue, 10 Bottles 500ccl Water and 2 SangSom at some local Thai Shops

Some Tourists stopped me and asked, where the Hell I was able to buy that

Should we start to worry now?

theres water in tops under central

here too! at 3.50 pm today

The little shop in my building finally got water after 3 days without. The 12 packs are the same price, but the bottles have no labels, are loose in a bag, no plastic on the lid, but the lids are sealed. Maybe the factory is skipping steps to get product out fast.

More likely Somchai sourced a supply of bottles and caps (but no labels or cap sealer tape) and is filling old bottles from the hose in his garden and selling it on to places like this shop at a nice profit

  7. Beaches come and go based on the interaction of climatic, geologic, and human factors and there is not much one can do about it when the sand from one starts to wash away in one place and starts to wash up in another

  8. Fortune would be best area to get a battery at the moment

There is an official HTC store at Fortune and any replacement battery you buy there will cost you a fortune! I was quoted about B 1400 (US$ 45) for a 2nd battery for my HTC Desire. Went on eBay and found a Hong Kong based seller of new Desire replacement batteries offering 2 batteries and a recharger-plug for about US$ 15 (shipping included)! Ordered from them and arrived at my door in Pattaya in about 15 days :)

PM me if you want seller info as don't think can post such commercial info in the open :o

  9. I've got a couple dozen bought a few days ago...when nobody was listening to my warnings to stock-up on essentials. If you want to buy some, maybe I can make you a deal, PM me...but they won't be cheap

  10. Ali Babba is a good standby...been open for years and I always see lots of local Thai-Indians eating there when I'm there. On Central Road opposite Tops Market (between Beach and Second roads).

  11. The real fact may well be, that in terms of natural disasters the Japanese do have long, extensive and recent history. Plan for the worst, hope for the best doesn't translate well here. You are right though, it is interesting that they jump at the first sign of foreign advice.

Yep, those Japanese really know what they're doing...building nuclear power plants in active earthquake and tsunami zones  And as for after the fact clean-up, they did such a bang-up job with that that they now have radiation hot-spots popping up in Toyko!

  12. Thanks MRO, that's good to know the pricing is secure. I am going to visit my Ford dealer tomorrow to place a deposit on the 4-door 2.2L 2WD XLT model.

With all the extra goodies + added safety that comes with the 3.2L & the more power off course, the 3.2 sounds like the better deal to me, but your money so your choice :jap:

Yeah, I've been thinking about the 3.2L and the added safety, but I commute long flat distance each week, and have other cars, and not really interested in high performance on this unit...but tempting...

If it feels to slow, just chip it. With the weight savings of a smaller engine and by not having to buy 4WD, a chipped 2.2L 2WD will be quicker than a stock 3.2L 4WD ;)

But you do give up the some of the handling and safety electronics (including built-in rear camera) and of course, the side and curtain airbags, which are standard on the 3.2 (as well as a few other multi-media and cosmetic goodies). Of course, if you can wait a year or so, all these features are likely to drift down in the line-up over time.

  13. If you start drinking seawater you'll be dead in about 4 days. I hope you were joking !

just returned from a trip into pattaya for dinner

traffic was a pain, took an hour to get in from the lake

anyway its a water subject so i happened to call in at family mart on the corner of the soi where the jolly friar and china garden is

i didn't go in for water but noted they had loads in those thin plastic bottles and were restricted to x2 per person price was 15baht

i thought, if they have bottled water on offer in the heart of the soi bacuao tourist area then surely there can't be much of a problem elsewhere?

Pattaya is going to be a cluster-<snip> for some time until all the Bangkok refugees return home; so another benefit of stocking up on stuff is you can eat at home, get caught up on your reading or video viewing, and not have to deal with the horrendous traffic jams. :D

  14. If you start drinking seawater you'll be dead in about 4 days. I hope you were joking !

Somewhere in the Bangkok sub-forum I think, someone posted the instructions for a home-distillation process, which I assume would remove the sodium chloride in the water as well as other contaminants.
