  1. Funny tha

Still prefer Pizza Company, best value for money in my opinion and consistent good quality - unlike some of the pretenders.

When I go to the Pizza Company you always get a new menu with the new HIGHER prices.

I just prefer the Pizza Company taste, anytime i have tried American/New York style pizza they always seem very greasy / slimy, i think it must be the kind of cheese they usebah.gif

Went to my friends condo last night to watch DVD when I got there he had just ordered a large thin crust with ham mushroom and extra cheese from NYPH, as you do I tried a slice all I can say is awfull hardly any cheese taste they put slices of tomato all over it and it was just a slimy mess and 700 bht!!!, with portion of soggy fries.. just pointed him in the direction of La Bocca needless to say

Funny that...I just ordered yesterday my standing order of a "thick-normal" crust salami and olive pizza with garlic sauce and it was, as usual, tasty and very filling. Covered with lots of cheese, salami, and enough olives to start my own oilive-oil factory. My number one go-to when I want an American style pizza in Patters.

Maybe the mushrooms caused it to be soggy...this can happen if they use canned mushrooms rather than fresh.

  2. www.pattayahire.com great service and reasonable

They have rental insurance as well, very important

    Mazda Hi-racer Plus

    2500cc Diesel Turbo

    Power steering,

    5-speed Manual transition,

    Electric windows and

    mirrors, ABS, Ice cool Air-con,

    CD/MP3player, rental insurance.

    6000 THB a week

Yes, to reiterate...be sure the vehicle is insured AND that the coverage is for a rental/hire vehicle. This is not a problem if renting from a legit car/truck rental business but if you go to one of the more informal rentals, insist to see the rental contract and verify that it is actually for the vehicle in question, that it is a current policy, and that it covers rental/hire of the vehicle.

  3. I think I saw a couple trucks among the cars for rent at the Exzite parking lot car rental operation. However, I don't know if these informal rental operations provide proper insurance.

  4. They are VERY specific about the 100 yearly renewal. It must be done timely or you lose you renewal option. On the positive note, they have allowed me to pay it Far in advance so there is no excuse for missing the payment.

I seem to remember awhile back someone saying they paid 10 years of renewal fees in advance. I thought this might be a good idea to prevent me from forgetting. When I asked them about this earlier this year they wouldn't allow it. Perhaps they introduced a new policy on this?

I paid 15 years renawal fees in advance when I signed up,later they didn't allow this anymore since they count on the fact that you will forget as it will cancel your membership.

Of course, the business model is a quasi-scam...why anyone would want to be associated with such a business is beyond me.

  5. ...who in their right mind would invest a lot in that knowing the IP could be blocked IN Thailand (the target market) at any time?

I think you will find that this consideration is very much in the minds of ThaiVisa admin when they create the rules.

For someone who had the interest and the IT skills, it could be done for less than a hundred bucks...and then twenty or thirty bucks a year thereafter for the domain name and server rental space. Now, if it was going to be a larger more commercial site, then the costs and efforts would be much more and therefore not worth the expense/risks.

  6. Sure but if it was just a website I think it would be safe.

The website owner is responsible for all content on his site in Thailand and posting information willfully intended to injure the reputation, causing economic damage or defaming a person in Thailand is a criminal offense punishable by two to five years in prison and a steep fine. In Addition, the defamed party can initiate a civil action to recoup any loss of income caused by the false and defaming statements.

I would think the answer, as some have mentioned, is posting/using the larger know review sites out there like Agoda/Trip Advisor for hotels and restos. For a Thailand/Pattaya specific site, someone with the time and technical skills presumably could set-up an offshore website, which I believe can be done more or less anonymously, and the Thai authorities would lack jurisdiction to do anything about it.. (And someone outside Thailand, who had an interest in Thailand, could do this with little fear of the Thai authorities [especially in they didn't travel to Thailand].) Of course, I suppose a business who felt libeled could petition a court, or the relevant ministry, to have the site's URL blocked in Thailand.

  7. I walked past their branch at Ekkamai yesterday and there were staff members clearly

trying to sign up new members.

are they allowed to do this under the circumstances and is it moral/ethical for them to do this

bearing in mind some people might lose all they pay to them?

How are they supposed to get out of bankruptcy but by signing up more suckers...oh I mean "life-time" members.

On a more serious note, it is perfectly normal for businesses to operate while in bankruptcy. (American Airlines is in bankruptcy right now and continues to operate; as of course did General Motors.) The purpose of bankruptcy is to examine the debts and business prospects of a company to see if they are viable (the prospects to pay back the debt), The debt/business can either be re-organized under the current ownership, a new operator may come in and buy parts/all of the company, or the business can be liquidated and shut down. There are some peculiarities in the Thai bankruptcy proceedings but that's the general outcomes and it can take years to sort it all out.

but with American Airlines you only risk a short time before the contract is fulfilled

and you have taken your flight and with General Motors you would have had your car

whereas this involves providing a service stretched over a long period of time after paying

a lump sum in advance. I don't think they should be allowed to do that

Yes I agree there are issues with a business like a gym providing a stream of services over time but which requires a rather large upfront purchase for those services and it is still selling such memberships while in bankruptcy proceedings, with an uncertain outcome. It is also probably the case that many of potential new members are unaware of the bankruptcy proceedings and that there "life-time" membership could very well be a short one.

  9. Some of us could use a little more information as to location than "across the street from Indian Touch." I mean, that description sorta make the presumptuous assumption that the reader has ever heard of, let alone knows the location of, Indian Touch! I assume they are located somewhere in the 3 dimensions we associate with normal space so would it be too much to ask for the street coordinates of this great new find?

Their website is included in my post, dude:

Which is what FarangBuddha himself replied when he was asked for details about Fairtex gym he mentioned in another thread. tongue.png

I was not providing a REVIEW of Fairtex...just a reply to someone looking for gym recommendations. When I review a new restaurant//store/gym/whatever, I certainly give more location information than "it is across the street" from some hotel no one has ever heard of!

  10. Dude, you're in Pattaya THAILAND (I assume), why would there be a French notary here? And what makes you think, even if there was, that their credentials would have any validity back in France. It's like Americans asking for an American notary in Pattaya, even if there was one (in a former life) they would have no power to notarize any documents for presentation in America.

Why not call the French embassy in Bangkok and ask them...maybe they have a "notaire" like the American embassy can notarize documents for presentation in American courts and use in business transactions.

  11. I never tried pizza big ? they really that good ?

    any website ? i don;t mind a occasional pizza

It's a good pizza...like many in Pattaya. I wouldn't go out of my way for their pizza but if in the area and want one, it's a good choice. One problem is it's often hot inside...they don't run the air-con much.

  12. There is an electronics/appliance repair shop on Third Road just up a ways from the main Tony's near the South Pattaya intersection. At that intersection, continue south-west towards the Bali-Hai overpass...just after you make the first bend look over on your right and you will see it...they have large signs in Thai and English. If you reach the first light-controlled intersection you have gone too far. Just make a u-turn and the place will be on your left.

  13. Pizza Big is in Naklua.

Why not try the delicious Pizza at Hopf, at Beach Rd. Soi 13/1?

    You'll be glad you did.

    Agree...love their bacon pizza :)

Maybe give the pizzas at the Havana restaurant at the Holiday Inn hotel on beach road. They do a 50% discount from 5-7 p.m.

  15. They are probably looking for buyers for the gyms, either individually or as a group. I wonder if the new owner has any legal obligation to honour existing contracts?

I certainly hope they will honor existing contracts. In Thailand, who knows. It's really not good for the Calif WOW or the Bangkok bank if they go under, so most times the Bank will give them some more time to make their payments or restructure the payments.

Why would any buyer honor any existing contracts...I mean, that's what lead to WOW's bankruptcy. Why would the new buyer want to start off with a bunch of el cheapo members...all they might want are the leases (if good deals) and the equipment (and maybe the membership list to market new memberships to). Maybe the best one could hope for is a 10% discount on a new ANNUAL membership. Don't know why anyone would ever drink the "lifetime membership" Kool-Aid to begin with.
