  1. Chiang mai social golfers play every tue at Lanna 8.30 Tee off. All welcome any ability, check our website chiangmaigolfers.blogspot.com

There are a few members who play at Gymkhana through the week also.

    A good bunch of blokes!

  2. Many thanks Tigerbeer, we'll look into getting that doc.

The other thing in Thailand c-sections seem to be quite common.....speed & extra money perhaps?

She would only want a c-section if it was absolutely necessary.

Finally do you think they allow you in for the delivery? have read mixed info on this.

  3. Had a decent burger at the Wall last week, 85bt if I remember inc fries.

The new Dukes next to McDs on Changklan is very good, better texture than Mikes.

Home made fries superb. 150bt I think.

Dannys fish & chips was poor in our opinion. Fish was grey! Just seemed to be fast low quality produce.

Better fish & chips next to temple just off Loikroh. Can't think of the name now, only a very small place & fish & chips, mushy peas etc is all he does. The fella's from Blackpool Lancs, an old guy....name of the place is similar to Dannys...just a one word name.

Laughing Leprachaun also does very good fish & chips, free crusty bread too.

  4. My girlfriend is expecting our 1st baby end Aug, beginning Sept & is understandably apprehensive.

She's very scared of C-section & would also prefer a female doctor.

Any recommendations? I've searched the forum & am not sure how up to date some of the info is, eg as far as we know CM Ram no longer offer packages. We have been going there for ultra sound, check ups & prescriptions, but thought good to ask for any advice.

Suan Dok do have private facility which we're also seriously considering.

As we all know cost isn't the main issue, but any up to date info on that also greatly appreciated.

  5. Yeah real shame, he was well known by many.

As far as I know it was either a brain tumour or blood clot in the brain.

That was what my Thai neighbour who was really good friends with him told me.

Not sure what Lucas will do, Darling atmosphere certainly wont be the same.

    RIP

  6. Really enjoy it here overall, & certainly don't want to go back to UK.

However the 1 major prob I have, is letting my 2 golden retrievers off the lead.

This was a concern of mine prior to moving here as the way I see it, its either jungle or urban, no in between.

There's a bit of unbuilt on land on the development where we live in, but that aint easy either as Thai's & litter (leftover food etc). my dogs just wolf it down, chillies the lot.....with not very nice results.

Any advice, any where to let them off, as both dogs strong & powerful so need excercise.

  7. This was our 1st Christmas, after arriving in Oct.

We were feeling somewhat homesick & little lonely, as all family & friends back in UK would be having a big get together.

So we went to Pie Sabai near canal rd.

    400bt I think & absolutely appaling!!

Buffet style everything stone cold & we were 1 of the 1st there.

Sat for 20min without being offered a drink, so went to get 1 ourselves.

No atmosphere, no decorations inside & no Crimbo mucic.

Really as run by a couple from UK they should have done far better.

Usually this place does superb pies etc. Just woefully disorganised for the big day I'm afraid. So we weren't exactly cheered up!

Feeling loads better now you'll all be pleased to know.

  8. Had lunch at a new place advertised in CM mail, Mi Casa off Suthep road.

Thought it very good & well worth finding out.

Med style cooking, nice presentation etc.

    Terrace & inside eating.

We had lunch time set menu, few choices to have.

Drinks not cheap though...or am I getting tight :o

Also anyone know how La Casa is now? last reading on here, poor service & inedible food. Would like a few more options to go to that side of town.

OH Mi Casa has a nice sign on main road, turn off here & has a bit of parking.

How about Mikes hamburgers on Nimmanhaemin.

We really enjoy Amazing sandwich, but haven't tried their burgers as yet.

    Happy eating

  9. Monthly packages seem reasonable enough, but disappointed about installation fee.

Sure in UK it's free if you sign up for 12 mths??

Would like in time for Christmas, so will have to go with it.

  10. Living in hang dong & renting a house for 6 mths till we find something more permanent. Would like UBC tv, how do I go about getting it?

Is it cable or satellite dish? & is set up etc free?

When I move in 6 mths is it easy to take with me if a satellite dish?

    Any comments/ views much appreciated.

  11. Yes Rics back in Oz.

I'll find out in next few days alot more. Sound like a good bunch.

Once I'm living in the city, it'll all be alot simpler.

Too far away up here in Mae Taeng.

    Cheers mate

  12. Thanks Stateman. Know of them both. As of the next few days, I'll be living in the city & apparently development I'm on there is the CM golfers club. So good news on allfronts!!

  13. When it was opposite the Amari Rincome (now on Huay Kaew rd), we went there a few times. It wasn't cheap by any means, we were drinking G&T. I could afford it then as I was a tourist.

Think the owner is Swiss & he has a ladyboy lover.

  14. Yes I know where you are. I was in that area the other day (Somphet plaza?)

English, that'll do nice. & from Yorks....I lived there for 10 years, even better.

I'll check it out, & mention you???

  15. Cheers BM,

I'll have a look at map....I'm still finding my way around!

    What "tucker" do they do?

Love Thai food, but need a change. Up here in Maemalai (Mae Taeng), food choice limited.

Only so much rice & noodle I can take.

  16. Hi All,

Do any of you lot know of a golf club/society who meet up regularly to play?

I haven't played since leaving UK 5 weeks ago, & would really like to meet up with a bunch (not sure if that's the terminology!) of golfers.

Any info, phone numbers etc. really appreciated.

  17. Well I bought a car....Honda CRV. I was after a Fortuner but couldn't wait that long & no used about yet.

I have to recommend the dealer we used as certainly on the face of it everything is far better than could have imagined.

We bought a used one with 36k km, Honda warranty, leather, cd, 7 seats & face lifted model. Now not only was the dealer cheaper than the others close to him, but the others were going to change the oil etc themselves...he took it to proper Honda dealer.

We've been very impressed with his general attitude, as a couple of very minor things eg aerial & a rattle in door, he could easily have turned a blind eye to as we'd already had car couple of days. But he was more than happy to sort.

So big thumbs up & 10/10 for New chok chai cars,

I aint generally one for recommendations, but he's been very professional compared to builders & a number of other people I've dealt with since moving here 3 weeks ago.

    :o

  18. The builders I've used for my resort sound just the same. Leave them unsupervised & they bodge big time.

They need total direction, unfortunately without leaving them.

Exterior lights I requested, I showed them exactly where they were to go.

Left them to it, Bloody annoyingly somewhere totally different.

Painting....well they just don't seem to realise that they're are God knows how many different shades of white.

Wood staining, looks like they put on with a roller, all over the aforementioned walls.

    Drips all over the place.

When we arrived nearly 3 weeks ago, we thought we'd be able to open easily for Nov 1. But I just couldn't believe how many finishing off jobs to get up to standard.

They do 1 job & create another!

Lay new turf..... few days later one of them drives on it! Niggling away at me, so I lift said sunk areas, add more soil & re lay turf.......Yes a job well done! Until the next day one of them goes over with a motorbike!!! :o

    ON & ON!

We've now opened but still numerous niggly jobs need doing.

The compensation, I've just enjoyed a superb sunset this evening.

Oh & one of them put a shower in yesterday.great if you're a dwarf (oh & a thin one at that!)
