  1. Can anyone recommend a good dentist in Chiang mai?

The only one I know of is in the soi behind Amari Rincome.....Happy Smile :o I think it's called.

Any reports good or bad on that one?

I'm next in Chiang mai end of December, staying at the Rincome, so Happy Smile would be convenient.

UK dentists expensive, so can wait.

  2. Agree with some of the previous posters.

Cluster of decent places on the river, Goodview, Riverside etc. A good evening to be had, with good food if you want it.

Also felt very safe at chucking out time....unlike here in UK.

Yes, Drunken Flower, also been there in the first Soi behind Amari Rincome hotel.

Which is on the corner of Nimmanhaemin & Huay Kaew Roads.

5mins further up Huay Kaew, The Pub.

10mins further up on the other side of road, Darling wine bar. Run by a Swiss fella

    & his Thai transvestite boyfriend.

  3. I'd be keen to know where you usually take your holidays.

In the 10 years I've been going there, day or night never been bored.

For all its faults, CM still a great place.

  4. Been reading with interest. I still live in UK at moment so can only give limited input.

But many of the supermarkets in UK import asparagus, beans etc. from Thailand.

And We import more chicken from Thailand as well than anywhere else in the world.

My point being, they must be able to farm a bit, UK supermarkets are notorious for being picky with the food on their shelves.

Also when I'm in LOS I've had some great salads.

  5. I'm in the UK at the moment...at work to be precise.

And by the time you've done a days work, & then gone home done any chores... you know wash the car etc. You're spot on we're just not used to having time on our hands.

I'm in the middle of building a guesthouse North of Chiang mai, with the idea of moving out in the next 18 months.

You're also dead right.... you've got to give things a try, no good regreting things in 20 years.

For us ( me & wife ) Chiang mai has plenty to offer if weather lousy.

Shopping, cinema, restaurants, ten pin bowling etc.

As you know there's no set thing re. the weather. Could rain just in evening for an hour or bucket down for days ata time.

    What's your idea Z?

Coming out on your own? Is the ocean an attraction for diving etc.?

I do love Krabi, but unsure as to whether I could live there.

Did you say if you'd spent much time there ?

  6. Krabi in general is certainly less spoilt & a very beautiful place to visit.

But alot less to do when the rainy season hits.

Not sure what your hobbies and interests are to keep you occupied 365days a year? :o

  7. I'm not 100% sure of the facts off the top of my head.

But I thought this was set up to provide alternative agricultural income in place of opium growing.

    Maybe somewhere near Doi Angkhang.

Certainly produce is sold at CNX airport, & when we stay at the Amari Rincome some of their salads on the menu state they're from this project......certainly taste delicious.

I'll try to look it up when I get home.... at work at moment :o here in UK.

    Sampling another lousy summer.

  8. Chanchao is spot on about Rincomes location, plenty of eating out opportunities within a few minutes.

Remember the first time I stayed at Rincome 10 years ago, Nimmanhaemin Rd was so quiet......that's life though nothing stays the same.

Hotel has a beautiful pool area & garden a real oasis in the city.

Great food, you gotta try the yum nuea (spicy beef salad) & Pad Thai, the best I've had so far anywhere!

Good trad. massage 5mins walk at Kalavek.

Try to get deluxe room overlooking pool....it's the quieter part of hotel not overlooking Huay Kaew Rd.

Hope you enjoy Rincome as much as we have.

Look forward to seeing all our friends there soon.

  9. Morning all from UK,

just found out recently my wife going to have a baby (HELP!) and due to timings (or lack of! ha ha) she may be in Chiang mai for run up & birth itself.

Any help out there regarding a really good hospital, with English speaking doctors etc.

Obviously it's a worry, but looks like being unavoidable, the fact we'll be in Thailand.

Any advice etc. also much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Thanks for that.

    Wow that's a whopper of a joining fee !!

I guess yearly fees are as I hoped.

Last year I was looking at a new housing development on the super highway (name escapes me for now), with a smart looking school opposite, any idea which school that mighthave been ?

    Cheers.

  11. Hi all, thoroughly enjoyed this forum since I found it a few days back.

My first posting concerns school fees, can you give me an idea of what school fees are for one of the international schools.

Need to do a bit of research as hopefully relocating to Chiang mai next year.

    Thanks in advance.
