  1. go to: priceza.com

    best website ever !!!

good! the same printer I spoke about above is at 12738 bahts ( instead of 14590 at invadeIT ) http://www.priceza.com/

Priceza is a great site, but be careful of some of the shops listed there, their prices are excluding VAT. If you click on to the shop you fond at 12,738 baht, you can see they list their price without VAT, so you have to add 7% to that price. It's still cheaper obviously, but just keep it in mind.

Another handy thing with priceza is their rating system, so you can see the avg rating of the shop along with how many reviews they have shown to the right of the stars.

  2. It is true that the non-O visa does not allow employment, but your wife is allowed to apply for a work permit and once she gets it, this permit allows her to work.

Don't know about her extension as your dependent with the complication of your own extension.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

So she can apply for work permit on that visa even though it's stated in the remarks "Employment Prohibited"? Like on the image attached (from google search)

Just seems weird to me why it doesn't say this on all non-o visas, and therefore I thought it made a difference.

  3. Hi

Neither myself or my wife are Thai, I hold Non-B visa and work permit and that is more or less permanent.

My wife now has a Non-O based on marriage after she quit her job and thereby lost the Non-B and work permit she had before.

On her Non-O visa it clearly states that employment is not allowed. When I searched through the forums it says everywhere that Non-O based on marriage should in fact allow employment. Does this only apply if the spouse is Thai national?

Second question, slightly related, is once my wife gets onto my 1-year extension schedule (she's still on the first 90 day visa now), I assume she will not have to leave the country every 90 days?

And how does it work with her 1-year extension in the period where my passport is in for my 1-year renewal? I mean I usually get a 1-month extension first while they process the papers and then the actual 1-year extension is issued and is then around 11 month only as I already had a month. Where does my wife fit in in this game? Should I bring her passport with me every time and get her the same extensions that I'm getting?

  4. Hi

My wife recently changed her visa to a non-O at a Thai Embassy abroad. Before that she had her own work permit and non-B visa.

Now we want to get her 90 day non-O visa extended, I guess it will follow my 1-year extension? My 1-year extension runs until November, which is fine if we can get her on to the same cycle now.

My question is what is the process for doing this on a dependency visa? I tried searching for old topics about this, but couldn't find anything concrete about what documents are needed and what the process is.

  5. 1. Yes.

But her current permission to stay ends when her job ends if her job ends before her permission to stay ends. On that day she needs to cancel her work permit at labour office and her permission to stay at immigration and at that time apply for an extension of stay as your dependend.

Extension should be given on the spot.

    Thanks Mario.

To clarify, you answered yes to it being possible to do at the local immigration?

So on the day her employment ends we go to labor office and then on the same day on to immigration, is there some sort of time limit on this, what if it's a day apart?

Her current visa is given from a BOI company, I'm not sure if that changes anything, I know they have their own immigration office in Bangkok, but I guess we can get it cancelled at the normal immigration also.

  6. Hi guys, I have a couple questions about obtaining a dependent visa for my wife.

I am on a Non-B visa with work permit and have been for many years now, my wife is also on a Non-B visa at the moment with her own work permit.

My wife is from a country that is at the bottom of the list of visas in pretty much every country, so visa-runs is not an option as she doesn't get any visa on arrival anywhere.

Her current non-B 1-year extension expires on May 22nd of this year. She is going to give her notice a month before that so she will stop working around that date. Now my plan is to get her onto my Non-B visa as a dependent after that.

She will be out of the country all of the month of May up until a couple days before the visa expires on May 22nd.

    Now for my questions:

    1) Can her visa be changed to dependent visa at the local immigration or do we have to go to a Thai embassy abroad?

    2) This depends a bit on the answer to #1 I guess, if it can be done at immigration office, is it done at the spot or is there a processing period? I'm thinking if we can go there a day or two before her current visa expires and get it done, or if that would be cutting it too close in case there is a processing period? Or will they give her a temporary extension while processing it like I get on my non-B when it needs renewal?

    Hope that made sense wai.gif

  7. I guess you are going to study-abroad at Webster University?

Webster's students just recently chartered a Roteract club. In case you don't know what that is, then in short it's a Rotary Club for the younger crowd, usually in a college or the likes. Their sponsoring club is Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin (google it and you will find their website/contact info).

So if you are indeed going to attend Webster, there should be a great opportunity there in asking their Roteract club to help you. There are some very influential people in the Rotary Clubs in Hua Hin, especially the Thai speaking club (Rotary Club of Hua Hin), and you can be sure that no volunteer work arranged by those clubs will get you busted by any authority.

  8. Dont bother driving there, not much there and took me an hr to find it , bad signage. Online is probably the best option.

I guess that's due to being an online shop, Google presence is much more important than signs to find the office.

Looking at the map the OP posted, it doesn't look like it should take an hour locating it though.

  9. Interesting site. Always cheaper then HomePro/ Power Buy or good idea to shop around?

I assume they do home delivery or is there a pick up point?

They do home delivery, this one might look even better with free delivery all over Thailand so could be good for people out of the Bangkok area: http://www.invadeit.co.th/product/dishwashers/teka/free-standing-dishwasher-white-lp7-811-p011479/

  10. The modem/routers you get from the internet providers are always the cheapest model that money can buy (and they charge around 300% the real price if you are to buy one from them).

Modems/routers can only handle so many concurrent connections, so if you for example are downloading torrents, which will make you have lots of open connections to peers all over the world, most cheap modems will at some point run out of free connections to open, and can lock up and require a reboot.

It can really pay off to get a GOOD quality modem, right now one of the best choices is the Asus DSL-N55U. Nothing but positive things to say about that one and you will NEVER have to restart it.

  11. Nope, there isn't.

There is a big Tesco Lotus in Market Village (the main shopping mall in Hua Hin so far I would say)

There is a new big and very nice Makro in the Northern part of Hua Hin, has made the dreadful Tesco trips completely unnecessary.

There is a Villa Market center of town on the mainroad.

There is a large supermarket called G Supermarket (I think) up across the railway on Chomsin road.

There is a new Tesco Lotus Express South of town around Soi 114.

I'm sure there are even more, but for me Makro is definitely the high point over the last years.

  12. Sounds like what you are looking for is a wireless access point. You could also get away with a pocket router, but those don't have an extra LAN port for output to your PC.

The wireless signal will be visible outside of your room though, but what you could do to make it invisible to your landlord is to hide the SSID (network name) so it's not visible to anyone, so you have to enter the network name along with password to connect from your wireless devices.

  13. - Casa Mia, up the Pala-U road about 500 meters up after the left turn, then it's on the right-hand side

I am bad with names, but I think this might be the place I used to go to a fair bit....

From the Main Street going through town, turn left at the police station towards the beach. Half way down, another left turn onto a s,aller road, and the pizzeria is on the right hand side.

Are we talking about the same place?

And on the main road going down to the beach on the right hand side there is a gelato place for after dinner dessert

    licklips.gif

No that is actually quite the opposite end of town :)

Casa Mia is out of town away from the beach and center. I forgot the name of the one you are talking about, but I know which one you mean, just opposite City Beach Hotel and next to the (relatively) new wine bar. They are good as well.

  14. I am no pizza expert, but so far the best pizzas I've found in Hua Hin (and they both fit your preference with thin crust and traditional toppings) is at:

    - Casa Mia, up the Pala-U road about 500 meters up after the left turn, then it's on the right-hand side

    - La Grappa, rather expensive restaurant in the center of Hua Hin, but their pizzas are delicious and actually not too pricey at all

  15. OK latest up date for IE (9).

When opening a post can only see post #1 (or use F5 to refresh).

Approximately 20 seconds later without changing anything the rest of the posts (#2 etc) become visible. There were no keys pressed or screen changes made during one 20 delay period, I swapped between FF and IE on another test, nothing appears to make any difference on the delay period.

During the delay period if changing to page 2 can see all posts, but changing back to page 1 can only see post #1.

    Cheers

    Cheers

Are you still having this problem?

I've tried on 3 computers with IE now and they all load all posts right away.

If you observe the scrollbar on the right in your browser, does it "go smaller" once the posts finally come or is it small already from the start?

Can you see in the status bar of your browser if anything in particular is making the loading stall? Any particular file?

  16. Wonder if they fixed the search function as well?

It has been working fine for me as I've done several successful searches today with it and no errors.

    [snip]

By the way, what is that mark next to the post number.

The icon there is a share icon added in the last forum software upgrade, it wasn't working as the makers had intended it until just now where we fixed the issue. It should now result in a share popup appearing.
