  1. I haven't been to it but I swear their signs said oil change

They also do oil change. Used their service 3 times already, every time excellent. Fair prices and wheel repair normally free.

Really. I bought a new tyre from them yesterday and I never noticed any service options. I'll check again.

Yes really, was there today and bought tyres. They did change oil at another car when i was there.

  2. Based on a number of pm(s) I am getting including one today, this old fart is still at it. Therefore, safe to say, it is a scam.

If you get approached, ask him if he is from NY. He will correct you and say Ontario. Then you know who and what he is. 65ish, white hair brushed front to back, very clean and shaven, red motorcycle. I doubt seriously he just hangs around Big C. He must be doing the rounds in the area as well.

    Sigh...

What color has his helmet? Brown and in the middle white?

  3. Oops....sorry, newbie mistake. Well, my thread has been moved to the Phuket forum now.

Schlog, would the new hotel be the Westin? If so I'll take a drive down there and have a look see. Thanks.

    Yes. Westin.

  4. The 100 baht is not the issue. I told him I did not want it back. He insisted. It ain´t difficult to understand where my anger is at. He insisted, he asked twice for my phone, AFTER I told him never mind.

I am always willing to help if I can. This was one instance where I simply cared for the guy, even though it was against what I was feeling could have been, a scam.

Anyways, the other side of the coin is, that perhaps he does not have the 100 to give back. That is ok too. Life goes on.

The reason for posting was to see if anyone else has seen this guy. He does own a house in Villa 5, apparently. <deleted> knows.

Short pair, brown slippers, 170cm? Maybe it is the guy in my soi in villa 5, discription correct. If it is him, be patient, he will call you. He is a thaivisa member.

  5. The new(ish) rather flash auto centre next to Jung Ceylon (at the back). Flat tyre. They fixed the tyre, changed the wheel (I'd put a temp spare on), no charge! (I tipped B100 - didn't want to set their sights too high...)

Same experience. Rolled in to check a slow leak. They checked, found nail, put in a plug. Very pleasant staff. No charge. I tipped 100 baht.

Same experience today. First class service. 10 points.

  6. While I am not totally certain, my impression thats the exact beach the woman was murdered on.. She was watched topless bathing by a local and then stabbed during a sexual attack.

It may appear deserted but the hills have eyes !!

The woman stayed at Seaside Cottages Maikhao Beach and was killed next. Peters location is 3km north of it, but its also famous for the drunken fishermen rapers.

Believe it, the hills and bushes have many eyes in Maikhao.

  7. Many retired expats over a certain age can't purchase health insurance for any price and there is also the matter that even younger expats can't buy insurance that covers preexisting conditions.

Exactly.. Its just a vague enenforceable thought that popped out of his head before it was actually analyzed or considered..

Resident expats shouldnt be using travel insurance and medical health insurance often isnt possible or riddled with gaps for many with conditions. I am only young but with multiple plates and pins, previous MRSA etc, the exclusions list on a policy starts to make you wonder if its worth the effort.

But dont worry.. It wont happen and the whole thing will be forgotten.

  8. Those potholes outside Simon Caberet have been there in various forms for years along with the water feature :whistling: Someone should call the mayor or his son. After reading about the Mayors son and his plans for Patong you would think fixing a few potholes would be easy. The roads in Phuket in many places are nothing short of a disgrace given the amount of money tourists bring in to this province.

Why should volunteers do the work that corrupt and shiftless Government officials should be doing. The Mayor is quick to tell everybody about his new 700 room hotel and his various other businesses but who is he serving, himself or the people of Patong?

This is just so typical, a person buys himself an official rank so he can run and expand his businesses free of any restraints.

His son wants to turn Patong into another Singapore or Hong Kong whatever that means. This in a place where nobody can even fix one pothole. B)

  9. Congrats to your friends on winning.

I note from their website that the "Welcome Party" was held in Soi Crocodile (full of bar girls). Did your friends go????

I also note that the "Awards Party" was held in Taipan Disco (full of freelancers). Did your friends go???? They should have, if they won.

Are you saying your friends, from Bangkok, have never had "a night out," at Sukhumvit Rd, Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, Patpong Rd? I would find that hard to believe.

Well they fl;ew down on the Friday night and had their first game at 8am on the Saturday and seeing as they were staying at The Indigo Pearl they could not take advantage of the young thai 'bar girls'. Saturday was pretty much exactly the same situation. then Sunday after winning in the late afternoon their flight was at 10pm so if there was an afterparty that you mention I dont believe they went.

Maybe other teams did go but in this case they didnt and they were in a high end hotel. The Soccer 7's are held all over Thailand though...I dont believe they are based on the quality of the girls as much as the quality of the facilities and airports etc.

If football tournaments are based on the women when will England get the next world cup?

    Never :whistling:

  10. Hope the tuktuk door will not hit the dreaming bangtaoboy one day too hard.

Like the 2 girls 4 month ago, were raped by a tuktuk driver on their way from patong back to bangtao.

No it was not in the news. Yes nothing happened to the driver till today. This incident is also a fact and it was horrible seeing one of the girls the day after this happened.

Not all tuktuk drivers are mad but be prepared.
