Promotional on capabilities would be more desirable!! - otherwise they are simply being promoted to their level of incompetence...
Promoted well past it I would say.

Yep, that's the way of all inefficient outfits and organisations that are not fit for purpose. Promotion of the long severing, incompetents. Merit means nothing to these people. Time servers. blocking the advancement of those worthy of it are the death of any organisation.

Just hope they do better planning than we have at CNX. When you change the building to have more people flying dont forget they need more vehicle parking spaces. Last time I went to CNX airport to pick up SWOMBO I went around 4 times looking for parking; nothing. Ended up parking at a shopping centre and walking 15 minutes to the airport.
when they built the air traffic control centre in London's West Drayton many years back, they looked at how many people were on shift at any one time and then provided that number of parking places. Of course, what they didn't cater for was shift changeover, when they needed at least half as many again. There is no accounting for short sightedness and planners often exhibit that trait, especially where airport planning is concerned. Just look at the arrival meeting area, post customs, at BKK; enough said.

I have quite a few in my house, but like you I don't mind them, as I too believe that they eat other undesirables. Until that is they make that horrible screeching noise in the middle of the night, that does piss me off somewhat. They keep having babies that the cat then eats, so the population is kept under control.

Interesting, were they expecting you, were you ticked off a list of any sort? Seems to be one of the few offices doing this
No they were not and no I wasn't. so not sure what happens to the paperwork. Neither did I see the lady make any entry in the computer, but she may have done that later.

For the information of others. Just done my 3 month, 800K in the bank check at the Jomtien Office. Required:
Copy passport, face page, extension stamp, TM6.
Reporting letter that you were given at your Extension visit (Jomtein Office only it seems)
Copy bank book title page and copy of last entry page with an entry on the due date showing 800K + still in the account.
Sign them all.
Just go to Desk 8, no need to bother reception. No ticket required, just go to the lady who gives you back the passport after the extension is granted. I was told that's it, no more need to report the bank balance until the next extension, when the 400K requirement will be checked off. It all took 5 minutes, no waiting involved.

UK Immigration policy.
British Nationality is by birth or by descent. In the former you are eligible for UK passport if born in UK. If you are born overseas to a British National by birth you can claim your citizenship and passport BUT if you have children who are also born overseas they cannot.
UK Nationality Act of 1984 if my memory is correct.
He said that he was British by descent, having a Brit Father. So your comment does not apply to the OP.

Yes. My daughter did just that.

Yeah I know. I am flying to Netherlands myself for a day, when we are in uk, to pick up my birth certificate and will try to get him a Dutch passport this year.
However the Netherlands apparently take away your Citizenship when you get another. And since I have a british passport we will have to see how this goes.
best of luck

Umm ... well grinch ... maybe because it’s OUR planet, and helping each other is good for our wizened up souls ????????
then they should start in their own back yard, as I do. I'm not doing a whole lot to save the planet whatever I do, while billions are doing their their best to destroy it. The planet will do fine when humanity is dead and gone, a distant memory in Nature. We don't deserve this wonderful planet, and it sure doesn't deserve us.

I remember the mountaineer, Doug Scott, saying that, to many Asians, a rusty tin can lying in the grass, is not trash at all, but just a rusty tin can lying in the grass. I thought at the time that this was just hippy BS and a convenient excuse for laziness. I am even more convinced now that it is indeed BS. Not sure what good old Doug was smoking at the time.

More likely drunk. 4 on board, no helmets, probably no license and insurance either. And speeding.
I don't understand you guys blaming the Fortuner - he slowed down for about 10 seconds before making the U-turn, anyone driving at a sane speed behind him would've seen the brake lights and slow down too. At the speed these kids were flying they were a few hundred meters behind him when he started to slow down so there is no way he would've seen them even if he checked his mirror. The kid driving the bike likely was preoccupied and didn't look at the road. Not to mention the bike driver veered right and basically slammed right into him when he could've veered left and avoid him completely.
That's what happens when kids drive bikes. People get hurt. They need to do more to get these punks off the road. 100% if they survive they'll do it again in the future.
because if you don't drive defensively and with awareness in Thailand, this is what happens. Kids on bikes here are idiots and you need to take that into account at all times. The car drive did not do that.

Loss of face, but no harm in trying.
good grief, how much 'education' do National Park staff need, to know that they should pick up trash? It's not rocket science. they are just a lazy bunch with no pride in their work or in their country. I see it far too often, in far too many locations, to be impressed with their 'dedication'. to cleaning up after themselves. They don't need 'education', they need a firm kick up the backside from their supposed managers, or both getting sacked and get others in who will do the job that they are paid to do.

Why oh why do tourists and other foreigners get involved in this kind of clear up? If the Thais can't be bothered to clear things up when it is clearly their job, I sure wouldn't help them do it, while they sit on their backsides doing very little. All the tourists are doing is helping to ensure that the laziness of the National Park staff continues.

Thanks for your replies. I will apply for two Visit Visas then.
you would be doing your child a massive disservice if you don't, at some point, get British or other European citizenship for it. It will also make your life so much more difficult, for travel, benefits for the child etc if you don;t do it. When the child grows up, it will have many more chances and options in life as a duel National than just with a pretty much useless Thai Passport.
I don't know why I am writing this really; it should be self evident to you, regardless of the expense and difficulty in getting it done.

looked like he turned right in front of the bike. Not unusual here. The bike may have been going too fast, but he should have taken that into consideration.

I never use them, so I'm indifferent to this increase. They are a terrible airline, on a par with BA.

No accounting for stupid. Did he get back at his wife? Well he will never know will he. I feel sorry for the person that hit him, he/she has to live with that forever.

I use an oak rocking chair to work at the computer. The only issue with it, is that I sometimes rock myself to sleep while watching a movie.

Been with TOT for 2 years now, no real problems at all. They have been doing a bit of upgrade work in my District for the past few weeks and it tends to go off for half a day some weekends, but apart from that irritation, the service is good, down load speeds are fine and I run Netflix and other movies without any issues. I use VPN when I need to and again, speeds are good. It's all as good, if not better than I had in the UK and it's a good deal cheaper, so no complaints so far.

Ok understood. Just out of curiosity did the Third Officers at EVA have two stripes like Second Officers? I had one stripe at the time and I was simply a cadet doing the CPL practical course and ATPL theory exams.
Didn’t have any Eva cadets when I was in Adelaide but we did have Cathay, Royal Brunei, SAA, Qantas and private cadets. All of them were good folk and some good memories. The unrated pilots had one, rated Third Officers two, First officers three, Captains of course 4. At Eva we didn't have Senior First Officers (three) as say BA have.

I think you will find that it is the position in most Asian cultures, not just Thailand.
