    No they are second hand

but they include NEW tracking and communications chips so China can always know where they are located and record all communications to/from these tanks.

Hmmm, maybe even a remote shut-down or override capability just in case they're used against Chinese allies.

Thailand uses Chinese internet routers forbidden in other countries due to these hidden microchips...

  2. There are way too many deaths in Thailand by this method. I have noticed that in Hotels, Condo's and Service Apartments the balcony railings are very low and a person could easily fall. The article does not state the cause of the fall. Once you rle out murder and suicide that leaves accident. The building codes need to be revised to place some type of screen over the balconies or wire meshing to avoid these type of accidents and raise the height of the balcony railing. These accidents can be prevented. In the West, the owners would be paying out millions for unsafe conditions and negligence.

Agreed. When i purchased my condo, the first thing i altered was the railing height. I had a local stainless steel company add railings to make it two feet higher making it almost impossible to "fall" over, but one would have to climb over. My condo manager or board has not complained as it's not the most strictly governed complex.

I know some condo complexes have very nice ocean views and would rather not disturb their view from the middle of the room while lying in bed, but for me safety presides. I am also aware that many condo RCRs would prohibit independent exterior modifications that would alter the uniformity of the building appearance. Perhaps another solution may have to be developed, but some railings are definitely below my center of gravity and i am of average Western height.

Be careful and warn your visiting friends to approach the railings carefully, especially if the tile floor is wet and slippery. Committing suicide is a different issue than an easily preventable accidental death.

  3. Similar to the OP, over the past 7 years, I have brought over a dozen pairs of major brand athletic shoes from the USA to Thailand. Almost all of them have had the soles separate from the shoes. My wife takes them to a shoe repair shop to not only be re-glued, but they add this layer of foam-like sealant between the sole and shoe. Total cost 150 baht per pair. It looks original. None of these shoes have required re-gluing, but the shoes fixed from the shop that simply re-glued had to be redone and they charged 300 baht (we suspect farang price).

Perhaps it's the soil, heat or maybe the 'acid-rain' here that neutralizes the shoe glues. Sometimes, i walk through deep rain water, but i don't walk on much soil. I can understand the heat possibly softening rubber and glue, but the glue appears to be dry and "neutralized."

Yes, it's an easy fix, but i have had to walk an afternoon with the sole flapping as i walked. Thais would laugh and tell me to buy new shoes smile.png. I'd tape them up until i got home. It makes them smile and i tell them, 'no money' smile.png.

  4. Determine how and why you ride.

I've modified my bikes for the way I ride starting with the seat, handlebars and suspension making multiple attempts to get the geometry just right; then engine performance and appearances. Try different handlebars and you'll modify the seat too as they affect each other. Prioritize and/or have multiple bikes for different rides.

For my cross country rides around the USA and Canada, my bike looked more like Dennis Hopper's than Captain America's smile.png, but from Pacific Coast to Sturgis or Laughlin I'd ride a semi-chopped 'rat' bike for camping anywhere... Up to you!! Enjoy the ride! Remember for motorcycling, it's the journey, not the destination....

  5. Will the elite in this country ever accept the results of a democratically elected government?

Do the elites really want equal treatment under the law?

Is it possible to create a single system of laws, where values are not assigned through 'corruption' ?

Will the poor accept the inequality of those with greater "values?"

    Is equality realistic?

  6. My 2 cents to this discussion is it's great to hear about the different services and customer satisfaction levels, but location is a big factor in quality and speed of your internet service. Just because someone else has terrific speeds at his condo/house doesn't mean another living across town or a half a km away will get the same results. Location, ISP Provider, location, ISP technology plan selected, exact location....

By the way, I have both Sophon Cable service and 3BB ADSL. Sophon technicians installed the separate coaxial cable (separate from our condos TV coaxial) from the main road to my condo building some 100 meters away. Speed is great, but sometimes it goes on/off. 3BB did the wiring to my condo building, but from there the condo staff did the wiring to my condo room. Fiber is currently unavailable in my area or to my building.

  7. Next week in our village there is an election for the local mayor.

The only thing that most people seem to be considering is money. Money paid for their vote by one of the candidates. Only one is offering any money so seems to be guaranteed to win.

It is just incredibly sad that a significant proportion of the electorate are more concerned with getting 200bht than anything else.

Yes, small money... Unlike in my home country where those on entitlements look for who is going to increase the rental subsidies, food stamps and other free goodies; or those with high incomes looking at income tax reductions; or others looking for capital gains, corporate and estate tax advantages...

An electorate could balance personal and societal benefits. Maybe some do....

  8. To me, the main points of this thread are:

    - Not trafficked

    - Free choice

    - Pursuit of happiness in life and work

    - Without prejudice

Sometimes, I have to remind myself of that last one. Some of us do not like lawyers, but my son is one. Some of us don't want our daughters to work at Burger King as a career, but maybe it's ok as a part-time job while attending school. We should respect those who work and not live off entitlements. We have many personal prejudices, but a person's character is deeper than any single job.

P.S. As a College and University student, I partied for 7 years, but while also working and buying rental properties. That did not define me or my life...

  9. which ones are the 2 men? seems impossible to tell.

    The ones in uniform.

It is about time the baht bus drivers were given pictures of these types of repeat offenders........

The time I confronted a suspicious group, they managed to get off the baht bus and didn't pay.

Yes, they should just post these pictures on the back of each 'baht bus' with a warning,

"Cover your pockets if these people sit next to you!"

  10. It's personal preference and what else you are eating.... When I am eating ONLY sushi, then I use my hands, but if I am also eating an entree, tempura, teriyaki, sashimi, etc... with my sushi; then I use chopsticks, otherwise it gets too messy with sticky fingers smile.png.

So, in the OP's poll, i answered "With CHOPSTICKS" as I mostly eat sushi with other foods except when I have the combination sashimi over sushi rice - Chirashi, which is eaten with chopsticks....

At this Michelin "3 Star" sushi only restaurant, it's all fingers....

In case you wanted more info on "Jiro" the greatest sushi maker....there's a good movie...
