Prolonged Russia-Ukraine war could derail Thai economic recovery

Xi Jinping must be doing flick flacks at home. They could not have asked for a better diversion post Covid to remove the spot light off them and how that all started . They must be hoping the entire European population (Russia included in there) annihilate each other making their end goal of world domination under a single party a tantalising possibility. -
COVID infection risk raised back to ‘Level 4’ in Thailand

Rhetorical question surely? Does Thailand even have a first gear? Closer to neutral and 5 reverse gears. -

What travel bubble with China? China currently has a zero covid policy…nobody there is going anywhere. Pity they did not have that policy in place at the very start but we all know why that was. Cheers China!- 101 replies

Unfortunately Thailand is not like every country and when it’s the logical thing to do and in doing so giving up their power to push you around unnecessarily that’s when it becomes a problem. They will keep the restrictions past the rest of the world giving them up. I also think the potential start up of demonstrations agains the current junta will prevent a quick resumption in normality.

If you are going to down grade it to an endemic status like flu then treat it as such, no restrictions no testing no forced quarantine etc. This is what an endemic disease looks like. Anything else simply means you can be forced to test, be quarantined and have your holiday ruined. I won’t return until it’s all gone and the original normal is back in place which means being greeted by an immigration officer who is clearly unhappy to be stamping my passport.????

Anutin: Thailand's handling of the pandemic "best in the world"
Dukeleto replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You are absolutely correct! However there is nothing preventing from massaging those figures the way they want them to look. It’s also going to be interesting to see the same data post covid from a post vaccination point of view. -

The problem with all those figures is the West labelled just about everyone who dies as as covid death to keep the fear hyped up, whereas Thailand did the opposite to try and look good. Hence the vast difference in figures. You could not get a test in rural Thailand for love or money how on Earth would they be able to know if someone died of covid or not and who would bother to report it as such. -

Don’t forget you can’t even review a hotel honestly without the threat of being sued if it doesn’t suit them…ahhh good old Thailand. -
I see the worry nanny’s are still out in force. The test on the 5th day is completely pointless and is not there to protect anyone just the illusion of such. I think it was more just to net foreigners into the highly lucrative imprisonment - hospital - insurance scam. The CEO of Air Asia is simply calling it what it is. If you are negative prior to departure and negative on arrival and positive on day 5 the likelihood of you having caught covid in Thailand is way and beyond higher than you having it before you left.

Improvements being made to Thailand Pass for convenience of travelers
Dukeleto replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I can see where this is going. This has been geared by the hotels to ensure any booking are made exclusively with them. This cuts out smaller guest houses etc. and makes sure the bigger hotels get all the incoming guests at this point. -

Will Western tourists ever go off visiting Thailand?
Dukeleto replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You are asking the wrong group. Every year a new group of people become travellers and every year a new group becomes a retiree. The same things that drove each group before will occur and the same things that will send some of them back will keep happening. You either love Thailand or hate it. I admit though that you can definitely fall out of love with Thailand but once you have reached that stage it’s easier to find middle ground to coexist comfortably. Acceptance of what is and what will always be is key to staying long term. Thailand will be back to business as usual as soon as they open right up and kill all the pandemic related regulations. It’s is matter of waiting for that penny to drop for this current government which may take some time but as with everything Thai their love of money will eventually prevail.- 249 replies

What’s the likelihood that the ASQ or SHA hotel has a kick back incorporated into the Hospital bill who their guests HAVE to go to? Further to that question, how likely are you now to get a positive result on your test and how do you verify the result without carrying your own test kits. And if you are carrying your own test kits which show you are negative and theirs are positive who is going to win and again how could you even verify your result if it has to go to a lab first. If you have been in Thailand for any amount of time you can easily compute that this scenario is all to easy occur. I concur with the stories Warning. It’s is far too risky stepping into Thailand as a tourist until all this nonsense is dismantled. Stop coming and it will happen much quicker. Keep coming and they will keep it running.
