  1. This brings back memories.

Some years ago, when Taksin was Prime Minister, the heads of each immigration office were called to Bangkok.

They were told the retirement requirements were being raised to 1.2 million baht and in four years were to be raised to 2 million.

I was 'warned' about this by the head of our immigration office who I knew well, but who has since retired.

The following year, with no increase, I was told that with the ousting of the PM it was not thought appropriate to bring in the increases!

Maybe, after all these years they are finally going to do it?

How do I dial a call center number?  My skype paid number app on my computer won't do it. (Invalid number) I must be doing it wrong. The call center number for Vietjet is 19001886 .  Thanks!

Phone number for Vietjet is  +84 1900 1886.

    + = International;  84 = Vietnam; 1900 1886 = Vietjet's number in Vietnam.

  3. Had the same problem with my bank two years ago.

My niece bought a '3' Sim with 10 pound pre-paid, she activated it in the UK and sent it to me here.

Bought a basic Nokia phone and inserted the sim.

Keep the phone turned off until I need it.

Updated my phone number with the bank.

Have had to use it twice now and it works without a hitch.

I send a very short SMS to my Thai phone a couple of times a year to keep the sim activated; still got over 8 pounds left.

  4. My male cats were neutered where the vet used the "new" method (according to her).

A small incision was made in the scrotum sac and the internal 'workings' removed.

The cats recovered quickly and the vet said they could be allowed out the following day.

You can still quite clearly see that they are male cats, total removal was not done.

I think the same can be done for dogs.

I have my monthly pensions transferred to Bangkok Bank, Phetchabun by Wise (formerly Transferwise) to ensure the correct Foreign Transfer description is shown in the passbook and statements.

About a year ago I needed my signature witnessed on a Life Certificate which required a bank stamp and signature of the witness.

Despite the fact that I showed my bank ATM card, passbook and passport, they refused to help stating they could only stamp and sign their own forms and documents. TIT.

I ended up going to a Lawyers' office and had to pay 1,000 bht for  5 minutes work and the form to be completed. TIT.

Had the same refusal from my bank here. Can only sign and stamp their own forms.

As I'm well known there they did write a letter for me, but it was the standard "confirm account and amount" as used for immigration.

The first time my dentist signed and stamped the form.

The second time, earlier this year, my vet offered to sign and stamp the form.

Checked with the DWP and they said they would accept it.

Free from both 'doctors', which makes a change!

  6. All details on the HMPO site where you make the application.

From there contacted VFS via HMPO.CM@vfs helpline.com which, if I remember correctly, was given on the passport website.

Costs as shown on the website and paid by credit card to HMPO, nothing extra to be paid to VFS itself, all payments to HMPO.

Received an email and phone call when the passport arrived.

  7. Agree with Best Friend Visa.

About five minutes in their office and 3 minutes at Immigration.

Only thing I have to do is get a letter from the bank, everything else done for me.

Started using them when you had to line up at 3am to get a queue number!

There is an OMRON store, that sells only OMRON products in the 89 Plaza shopping center in Nong Hoi.     Not sure if they do repairs.    Maybe try GOOGLE for that location and see if you can get phone number.    Or, others stores in CM.

The OMRON shop and service centre in 89 Plaza has closed.

However, going along the road from there towards Chiang Mai there is a new OMRON Service Centre sign on the right hand side.

This is wrong. An air purifier in a room with standard Thai windows / doors works well, no need to make it airtight.

    Absolutely agree.

Otherwise you'd have to make a room airtight for air conditioning or central heating!

I suppose you could try not breathing for a few hours.

  10. Thai friend just rang me to inform me of this.

Female who lives in a condo near Central Festival has been confirmed with Covid-19.

She regularly shops and eats in Cent Fet and went to Santhitam the other day.

The authorities are telling everyone who has been to Cent Fet in the past 10 days to go for a check-up if they feel unwell, have a runny nose, can't smell odours, etc.
