  1. Canberra embassy - where I would get the OA initially then once in Thailand extended after 12month , the medical test and crim records are on the www.mfa.gov.th i am assuming if you have done these requirements on your inital OA no need to keep supplying every 12 months ? I am also assuming that if applying in Thailand you require medical and crim record from your home country see below from mfa.gov.th https://www.mfa.go.th/en/page/non-immigrant-visa-o-a?menu=5e1ff71bc4281a00c812e8e2
  2. Ok thanks, so could I just get the non-o 90 days visa in Australia, arrive Thailand , set up my bank account , find accomodation etc , then approx 30 days before the Australian issued visa from Canberra embassy expires just apply for the 12 month extension based on retirement of a non -o (not OA ) so to avoid the insurance ? 2. I note from the Thai immigration website still medical,to state no diseases etc , so if in Thailand on my first extension do I need to see a Thai doctor ang get blood, tests ? 3. 3. ‘It is meant to be for somebody entering Thailand and applying for a 1 year extension of stay based upon retirement. If you only wanted to stay for 90 days you could apply for a single entry tourist visa and apply for a 30 day extension’ if that’s the case why would you not just apply for the OA visa in Australia as don’t need to show money in Thai account, which means you would arrive , easily open a bank account, then towards end of your first 12 months apply for an extension whilst in Thailand and obviously have the required 800k in the bank
  4. Agreed it’s confusing I think the 90 day option is just if you want to go for 90days at a time , and because single entry have to apply again. Good if u want to spend 3 months a year there
  5. Canberra embassy as per previous reply has 3 options for retirement in the above post Canberra embassy only requires 20K baht for non -O, but 800k for non OA
  6. The Canberra website advertises 2,options: 1. Non -o 90 days single entry valid 1 year, 20K baht proof 2. Non OA - based on retirement 12month , 800k baht proof
  7. I checked the link - they have 2x types , one for 90 days and one for 12months , both with different requirements, YET the application form is only for a Non O-A visa , gees they make things hard I guess the single entry non-o 90days is good if you only want to spend part of the year in Thailand
  8. So now you are saying you can only get a 90 day visa for retirement ?? At Canberra embassy , dosent mention anything about 12 months ?
  9. So if I arrive on a non-OA , can I change to a non-o anytime before my first 12 months ? with a non-o once you get that extension for 12 months , you don’t have to leave the country every 90 days ? ( I had a non -o based on marriage issued in Australia about 10 years ago but had to leave the country after 90 days then return), not married now sounds like the easier option is to come on a 30 day exempt entry then apply for non-o
  10. Gees I must be stupid but it seems these Thai visa are very confusing , so you are saying if I get a non-OA in Australia , then when I renew in Thailand for an extension 12 months I should swap to a non-o so I don’t have to worry about medicals and insurance ? now I am more confused than ever
  11. So by the sounds of it a non -OA sounds like an easier option to start off with , arrive in Thailand then only have to do extension when time to renew ? I am assuming with a non-OA you can the open a bank account upon arrival and deposit the 800k any time as long as it has been in the bank for at least 2 months prior to applying for the extension ? not sure if a non-OA in my country (Australia) if you need to have a medical and also have insurance ?
  12. Brick Top many thanks , guess I was getting the non-o visa based on retirement confused with when you apply in your home country where I thought you get 12 months ( so when you arrive on the non-0 based on retirement in Thailand you don’t have to apply for an extension until close to the 12 months almost being up, or have I got this wrong as well? thanks for your info
  13. Many thanks Ubonjoe for the information, sorry I haven’t worked out how to reply yet ! so I am assuming once you can open an account , you just transfer the money from your overseas bank (hope they let you open or as you say use an agent ) I assume there are many agents in Pattaya that could also make the non-o application for you ? Is it expensive or better to do yourself thanks alot for the help
  14. 8. Rental Agreement between the Applicant and the Landlord ; A copy of house registration. Location map of the house and a rental receipt Past three months ? What is you are intending to live in a hotel ? (Serious) How do you show rental receipt for last 3 months when you have just arrived on a 30 day exempt entry and are applying for the retirement visa before 15 days when your exempt visa expires ?
  15. Why would you apply after 2 month for a 12 month extension for retirement, when you applied for the non-o (retirement visa) during your 30 day exempt entry ? I would have thought once you get the retirement visa granted whilst on the 30 day exempt entry this then gives you 12 months and so no need to apply for an extension until 12 months is nearly up?
  16. So let me get this right, I can fly over to Thailand arrive on a tourist exempt for 30 days , then either apply for a retirement visa within the 30 days or get an extension of stay on the tourist exempt visa for a further 30 days which would give me more time to apply for a retirement visa ? 1. As part of a retirement visa isn’t insurance for the 365 days mandatory ? 2. I thought your initial retirement visa you had to apply in your home country? 3. Which banks allow you to open an account with internet banking on a tourist exempt visa, I opened a krung thai bank account about r years ago, now has lapsed , so not sure if they still do this ? Many thanks
  17. I knew this would happen…. That’s why I won’t be back until 2023 at the earliest !
  18. 4. Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality. The certificate should be valid not more than three months and should be notarized by notary organs or the applicant's diplomatic or consular mission. what the hell does this mean ! For a non Imm O-A retirement visa won’t they just accept an original police clearance (I am in Australia so would be a national police clearance from my state police force ), or nearest consular mission to Qld Is Sydney, so I have to send it down there just to get stamped , can’t I justice get it certified by. JP (justice of the peace)
  19. They have lost the plot ! Already done 2-3 swabs to get into Thailand, rate their going you’ll be swabbed 10 times a day, and they certainly won’t be getting my personal details off my vaccination certificate (such as full name and DOB), unless government official. I hear Cambodia as of 15 Nov - no VOE/Thai Pass, no PCR test, no insurance ,only rapid test on arrival, Thailand May lose a lot of business to other countries with less complicated entry
  20. So no beer bars open in Hua hin , Pattaya , Koh Chang etc until jan 2022 ?
  21. I have heard some places like national parks are requiring a PCR test no older than 72 hours to visit the park, <deleted> after jumping through all the hoops to get to Thailand do I have to get tested again, gain and again, next thing each region will want their own additional PCR tests ! Not my idea of a holiday
  22. Question, it i apply for entry under this Thailand pass , I understand they do the test on arrival at the airport But when I go to leave back to Australia how do I get get a PCR test on my departure to be allowed on the plane back to Australia ? 2.under the ‘test and go’ can i travel to Pattaya and also Koh Chang ? 3. FAQ on immigration state must have $50,000 medical coverage dose t say if need specific covid insurance ? 4. Under some of our credit card benefits we get free international insurance if we book and pay for our air ticket on our credit card , but we don’t get an official certificate of insurance just a insurance booklet that outlines the policy , is this acceptable to upload to the Thailand Pass website? many thanks
  23. Dear , Thailand Tourism authority, I am an Australian fully vaccinated, when my boarders open i will only come back to Thailand if you: 1. Stop the alcohol ban and open the bars 2. No quarantine (including overnight in Bangkok to await for covid result on arrival) 3. Happy to have tracking App that will advise me of my result 4. Let me arrive in Bangkok and freely travel to other locations such as Pattaya, Chang mai, Koh Chang , Phuket , Samui 5. I understand that I am a guest and respect your rules , but without this myself and others are unlikely to come to visit unless the above is implemented ‘for your consideration
  24. Until, direct flights from Brisbane Australia to Thailand recommence that are not through other Australian states then I won’t be coming ! To many changing rules both in Thailand and back here in Australia , I think I will wait another 6-12 months so I can travel with minimal/potential interruptions to places like Koh Chang have they done away with the COE requirement? where do you get covid specific insurance , so you have to buy both covid and medical insurance or there a product where both are covered ?
