  1. Should had taken note the number plates of the songthaew transporting the mattress. Truck bed might catch something nasty

Doesn't make sense that a business like that would use songtaews for removals.

You expect things to make sense here in Thailand!

  2. People still pay for music ?wub.png

    Sometimes.

Call me old-fashioned (you would soon scrap that idea if we ever met) but I still like to have an original CD.

Not the same as vinyl, don't put me in that category, but I just like to have those worth it. smile.png

Give me .mp3 any day, this old cat can't tell the difference any more!

  3. Why just Chiang Mai why not go up a few more miles to Chiang Rai too, whilst I would welcome a faster service, it seems like a certain family are doing the best they can to benefit their own home town.

True but it does make sense to open up that end of the country to future links with China. Personally I don't know why anyone would take a train, high speed or not, rather than fly. Flights are not expensive and they're a lot faster.

You're obviously not a Paul Theroux fan. Many people prefer trains and buses to flying. Certainly point to point, flights are quicker, but they're more expensive and leave you often way out of town with lots of hassle and cost to get where you really want to be.

You're obviously not a fan of Paul Theroux - many people prefer trains..... and buses. They often go to the centre of the city, save a lot of money (eg I go from Chiang Mai to Bangkok for B350, comfortably - try doing that on a plane) and lots of time and hassle getting from the airport to where you want to go

  5. Last week saw a notice pinned outside Doomsday Inn ,,,,,,,,,,, oops, sorry - of course I meant Downtown Inn ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, stating that it would be closed for most of the year, possibly opening for Loy Kratong.

During the next two days, numerous songtauws arrived taking away mattresses and bedding. Presumably we will sometime soon see ghost exorcists in the vicinity.

  6. The 'Silly Season' is here. Which is the most rediculous in today's Bangkok Post; police dressed as Hawaiian tourists perched on Segways or the plastic policeman outside Pantip Plaza?

If the police really ride out during Songkran on these machines, how long will they last, when water cannons alreadly knock over pedestrians and motorcyclists, and cause many automobile accidents.

And a plastic cop standing by Pantip Plaza 24/7 is going to deter the violation of intellectual property rights. Oh, sure!
