The problem I have with Thais speaking English, my wife to be more specific, is unless they learned it really well, they build sentences with Thai grammar, and it often doesn't make sense.

No U-bends, but many underground L-bends for no reason, get clogged up regularly, the stuff nightmares are made of.

Try 4 L-bends and a T with a srcew lid, bit messy, but helps to retrieve lost objects, too (Mrs. doesn't like sieves, since they slow down the outflow and need cleaning). I tried the 'flexible' approach with a hose before, but it's impossible to clean the thing out.

You say, you have only been in Thailand 3x. Do you know how much it is to rent a room in Bkk, is 100quid a month enough to help her pay the rent ? How much(or rather little) money do you think she realistically needs when staying with her parents?
