1. A second referendum can only take place if supported by a majority in the House. Opposition take control of the agenda as the did to introduce the Benn Bill.
2. The Benn Bill sailed through the HoL, proving that they are primarily remainers and likely to support any pro remain bill.
3. Agreed. Unfortunately that's clearly not you.
The only option to motion is via a private members bill. Good luck with that. If they want to force the government there is a precedent from 1979.
You tend to think that the parliament can simply vote to hold a referendum. It's far more complex than that in case the government doesn't support the idea.

No. It can only happen if it is supported by the majority in the house. The government doesn't have that majority, the opposition do. However, at the moment, I don't think the opposition have sufficient unity to get that bill through the house.
Three things:
1. A second referendum can only take place if it is supported by the government.
2. For a referendum to be held, primary legislation is required. This will require both houses to vote in favour, just as any normal legislation.
3. Leave this to those who know their stuff.

Opposition across the aisles have the numbers to form a temp govt to boot Boris aside.
You think a formal notion of no confidence will be issued and an alternative government will hold a second referendum? They could do that. IF remain wins there will be an interesting GE in 2022 and I don't think L and LD are going to like the result. In such case Brexit is on the table again. Just a thought.

No. And. Not if the referendum is first.
The reason I don't see that happening is that a second referendum on Brexit can only happen if it is supported by the government. I doubt the current government will want to do that.

But you're incapable of providing an ounce of evidence to support your view?
Why don't you just say "yes"?

I will admit that Bolsonaro takes Trump seriously, and that Poetin thinks he is a usefull fool.
I will admit that Rees Smugg takes Bojo seriously, and that Farage thinks he is a usefull fool.
But that's about it.
DEAL?
So you're incapable of referring to facts? None whatsoever? You're all empty words?

Facts.
Who takes Trump or Boris seriously? Who? (apart from their own lumpenproletariaat)?
Only one problem: what will they do next in their egocentric madness?
Not that I care what happens to the US or UK, but the whole world could suffer from this madness.
So you can't refer to any facts, is that what you're saying? It's all empty words?

Trump undermines the international credibility of the US and democratic national institutions , just like Boris undermines the credibility of the UK.
Is that your arbitrary opinion or references to facts?

OK, and so Brexit will hinge on who is elected - we can expect the Tories to take us out, and Labour to have another referendum?
Yup, pretty much. The next GE will be a second EU referendum.

What a mess. Can somebody who follows politics a bit more closely than me summarise what will happen now, after the Supreme Court's ruling?
The parliament will faff around for a few more months until the situation is deemed unworthy and a general election is called - in which case the circus starts all over - and remainers on here will up their effort of calling people liars. Elementary.

Don't know if I'm the only one noticing that multiple PhDs and Professors from MIT are voicing an opinion in direct contradiction to the climate change hysteria...
It'd be interesting to watch one of them in a debate against Greta.

You're beginning to sound just like my neighbour in Hua Hin - he's convinced the lottery numbers are somehow directly linked to the odometer on his brothers car. In terms of accuracy in your analysis I say you're about as spot on as he is.

I don’t know you well enough to gauge your efficiency but having read your posts I can safely rule out the ‘smart’ bit ????????
First you were a spy, then you worked for the government, then you own a company etc etc - when looking at the evidence it would appear you’re sat in your flat posting to forums and watching TV - how’s things up there Mr Mitty ? ????
A spy!?
Baha, I've never really taken you seriously, but this was a bit over the top even by your standards...!
And yes, I do work for the government. And yes, I do own the company. It must pi** you off something awful...!

Yes, if we read ancient times chronicles, there are countless accounts of freak weather and climate.
Of course humans can do much better for the environment , and burning fossil fuels cannot go on forever.
If we talk about priorities for humankind, i think that wars, social injustice, inequality, slavery are much more shameful than ice melting or oceans rising.
????
Hear hear!

I'm with you. I think she's remarkable. I also think she's being used.
I am a climate skeptic. By skeptic I mean that I agree with the notion that the climate is changing, but I don't agree with the narrative that the change is primarily due to man's burning of fossil fuels.
