  1. This is just outrage..

Just can not believe in such stupidity.

Must out of mind this or those individuals who put such stupid idea in life ...clap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gif

Who wants now to go to the beach without shade ....maybe for 10 min..???

    Just can't believe it....

    coffee1.gif

"Who wants now to go to the beach without shade" - the problem is / was the Thai's turned that "shade" into a lucrative scam.

They can't be trusted to manage anything here, within the law.

  2. @ hansgruber

My rent hasn't changed in over 2 years.

Actually, I should peruse the rental market, once again. Perhaps I can now rent more, for less.

Anyway, whilst they keep building and building, good times ahead for renters. biggrin.png

  3. A large percentage of the nurses I have had (in hospitals) I would give my ATM card to if he is not able. I don't have and have never had the paranoia craze that most TV'ers have and amazingly enough never been ripped off but I would be checking the balance quickly just in case.

There have been some real sweet people taking care of me.

Last line edit. Of course any person from Pattaya would never get the chance. Not all Thai people are cons. People with real jobs have no real need to steal from an invalid. I trust real Thais over Americans over Europeans.

"I trust real Thais over Americans over Europeans." - "Of course any person from Pattaya would never get the chance." - are you saying the Thai's in Phuket are "real Thai's" and the Thai's in Pattaya are not???? biggrin.png

  4. Yeah it's all well good to be arguing over the world imploding, but meanwhile my view Is going to be wrecked by 190 new shoebox condos at Layan Beach.

The bright side is that it may motivate me to get out there and buy another place with a better view.

Just one slight problem - selling your old one first (the one with the about to be ruined view)

Rent it out and get a return better than any bank!

So, eventually, he will have two properties here he can not sell. biggrin.png

  5. Maybe he doesn't want to be found by the OP, and is not even in gaol.

    I agree.
My friend call for me. Find out he is in Phuket provincial court and I can visit so I got a Thai person to call again 3 hours later and he is not there anymore. They now say only police station will tell me where he is now. I don't want to go back there as I seen him in the cells and it was nightmare for me. I will now try to have someone call the police station or come with me as they do not understand English. It's very strange he would be at the court on a Saturday and then be moved.
What is your friend facing court for? What's the offence?

And, how much money has your friend asked you for? biggrin.png

  6. Good! I like the development in Phuket now. They are really going after some of these thugs and criminals. I hope they continue to clean the streets.

Are you aware they just let 233 criminals out of gaol, in a mass pardon?

    http://www.phuketgazette.net/phuket-news/Phukets-shorttime-prisoners-walk-first-mass-pardon/56745

Lock a couple of dozen up, but let a couple of hundred out. I can't see how this "cleans the streets" of Phuket.

You are doing better than the people living in Donestk at the moment.

Probably better sticking to the nothing nice to say then don't say anything rule.

That was nice, for me. biggrin.png

  8. Raping the baby boy is pure filth. I have a son that age and I can't imagine the rage I'd muster if it were my son as this makes my blood boil. Hope the police just shoot him dead on the spot. Otherwise he will eventually be back on the streets in a few years.

No results yet published from the autopsy. One has to wonder how a 1 year old baby boy could be raped (not the physical act, just the idea). Boggles the mind.

There you go. Autopsy in and no evidence of a sexual assault. One has to wonder why the mother started that sort of allegation. And what sort of mother she was.
I was going off the update 13 hours ago that webfact posted.

    So was I.

One can only comment on what is reported at the time.

So, is this reported comment: "He also had several bruises around the body, especially around the buttock area." to be believed, or not????

Will there be any investigation into the bruising "around the buttock area?"

hate to say it but could easily have been a drugged and robbed incident, no info on whether he was alone when going to his room, if the guy was on holiday and it was his last night I would very much doubt he was alone.

The sort of details that are conveniently left out of a news report like the involvement of a 3rd party

"hate to say it but could easily have been a drugged and robbed incident, "

Hate to say it?? There's a resident contingent on TV who live for just such another opportunity to create drama to brighten their days. And with the help of Google, many of them are pathologists, police and coroners able to deduce what happened from reading a rather simplistic news report.

Sorry for his death and equally sorry for the excitement it causes the flock of vultures .

"Hate to say it" but many deaths by misadventure and/or murder, in Thailand, are written off as "suicide" so lazy police can avoid paperwork, and Thailand's precious image to tourists is protected on the world stage.

This doesn't do much for a family back at home who may be relying on a life insurance payout, as this insurance, in general, does not cover suicide. Get the bigger picture????

I'm not saying this case is murder, or natural causes, but there have been numerous "suspicious" deaths of foreigners, called suicide by police, all over Thailand, which means the deceased's family may miss out on vital funds, due to the incompetence and/or laziness of Thai police.

Where does suicide come into this sad story? ... could easily be accidental death caused by too many pills mixed with alcohol .... or simply a heart attack in the bath .... 33 year olds have been known to have them ... but conspiracies are so much more fun for many TV members .... if its so bad here why not go home?

"Where does suicide come into this sad story?" - the article mentioned pills and alcohol.

"if its so bad here why not go home?" - where did I say "it's so bad here?"

So, he takes some pills, possibly drinks some alcohol, at the same time, has a heart attack, and then drowns.

I would like to know which one the Thai Police will "officially" record as the cause of death.

NO, I would actually like to know the REAL cause of death, as I am sure his friends and family would.

It's not too much to ask, is it? Thailand, and Phuket, being a "world class tourist destination" and all.

No results yet published from the autopsy. One has to wonder how a 1 year old baby boy could be raped (not the physical act, just the idea). Boggles the mind.

If this poor child was in fact raped, the autopsy will most likely reveal he died from blood loss, possibly internally, although the "fell off the bed" story may mean he struck the child about the head, or was shaking the child so much, he suffered a fatal concussion.

I was thinking the same as hansgruber. I think the police may become executioner in this case.

If he is bought in alive, we can expect, yet again, a large mob of angry locals looking to take revenge, and who could blame them?

At 38 years of age, I doubt this was the first time he had ever acted on his peodophile urges. One can only wonder the damage he has done to many other children.

That said, maybe he has no previous history of sexual assault, hit the ice pipe on the day in question, and had an psychotic episode.

  11. I'm with schlog.

If he is receiving medical attention, chances are, he has been to an ATM.

Tell him to give some money to a nurse to go and buy one, and a dozen latest release DVD's, and for her to keep the change.

  12. Are we talking about land or condominiums? Both are completely different.

Land doesn't drop in price because you can't oversupply it. It's limited. Condos on the other hand can be oversupplied and saturate the market that can lead to a crash like the 90's.

My posts are based on improved land.

  13. This has been done to death already, no point in another discussion about this.

I was just curious to phuketandsea reasoning why it is different now from the past, but his only answer is 'government, can't say anything more st request of Thai Visa. So not a very elaborate or constructive reasoning unfortunately.

I have not read "Article 44" so I do not know just how far it can go, and what effect it may have on foreigners, but it has been invoked, which drew criticism from the west.

Whether that criticism eventually turns into sanctions etc - who knows?

    Interesting times ahead for Thailand.

  14. <snip>

In my opinion, Phuket currently has an oversupply of property on the market, yet they are still building more, and now, Phuket has a lower demand for property, mainly due to westerners chosing other locations in preference to Phuket, and the changing demographic of tourist coming to Phuket.

I am going to agree with NKM. Lower demand, but the bigger issue is over building. One only has to look at what happened in Spain 10 - 20+ years ago.

In the short term this is a good comparison. In the long term (10-20 years) i'm optimistic for Phuket. They will rebound like each time also if they have to play the casino card.

Invest in Phuket in the long run is a good investment but right now is not the best time to buy. Better buyer times will come.

Given Phuket continues in the direction it has, over the last few years, what do you think will allure the western market back to Phuket, over the longer term?

  15. As you should all know, great caution is required now. And we will see who is wrong

    Yet more mysterious, non-specific clap-trap.

Try to be specific (if you can).

Which two words do you think tourists understand more?

    Martial Law.

    Article 44.

Those of us that have been here awhile know that what happens in Bangkok rarely affects anything down here. It hasn't in the past and I see no difference with Article 44.

As I said before......another Chicken Little.

You seriously think Phuket real estate values are unaffected by national and global events? Talk about clap-trap

    Not in Phuket.

If you know so much, name one year when prices of new projects went down. Or, even a slowing of building new projects.

Still awaiting you to come up with specifics.

    Steady on KB.

Are you seriously suggesting that the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, and more recently, the sanctions placed upon Russia, due to their military action in Ukraine, that has seen the Russian Ruble drop 45% of its value, has has no effect, whatsoever, on the property market here????

Surely you have seen the effect both of these "global events" have had on the tourism industry on Phuket?

Isn't tourism Phuket property's best advertisement? Less tourists, less people to advertise and market Phuket property to. Thus, less people in the market, and these means less demand, which means less sales, and a downward pressure on property prices.

When the GFC hit, how many westerners were contemplating retirement on Phuket, only to see their retirement "nest egg" take a hit? Many of whom couldn't even retire in their own country, and are probably still working.

Now, the Ruble has dropped 45% and domestic prices are rising in Russia for goods. Many Russians can't afford a holiday here now, let alone, buying a property here, and that also goes for many of the Russian mid level criminals. Basically, take their money offshore, and they have lost half of it.

These are two "specific" global events for you?

You say it's the Thai's that buy most of these "boxes." The "51% Thai Condo ownership" law aside, if that's the case, what do they do with them? Phuket does not have enough job opportunities for them all to move here, so, they must rent them out as apartments, for short or long term.

Would that not put downward pressure on rents on Phuket? Isn't renting also part of the property market? Rents go down, or remain the same, year after year, does that not have an effect on people weighing up the rent v buy cost analysis? Whether that's buying for investment, or as their dwelling.

"name one year when prices of new projects went down" - what has the listing price got to do with the selling price, if in fact, they sell at all?

Any agent, developer or owner can put a ridiculous listing price on a property - it means nothing, unless and/or until, it sells. That is the only price that matters.

In my opinion, Phuket currently has an oversupply of property on the market, yet they are still building more, and now, Phuket has a lower demand for property, mainly due to westerners chosing other locations in preference to Phuket, and the changing demographic of tourist coming to Phuket.
