  1. Jesus first comment and already a waft of conspiracy........

Where else in the world would a newspaper publish a story about a guy having a heated argument with his wife, then ending up dead, only to conclude he had jumped- with only the facts as presented?

I am well aware of the sensitivity to the family back home. I think they should have the truth, and not believe some convenient story that closes the books before a proper investigation is done.

I'd feel very different knowing that my loved one hadn't killed himself, and I'd think very differently about settling the estate of my loved one if I knew the circumstances surrounding his death were suspicious.

Maybe the story happened exactly as presented. I think the family deserves to know that there is more than one possible story here, especially if they come from a place where newspapers are credible.

It's just too bad, and too typical that all your sympathy goes to his 'family back home'. The judgement of a Thai woman is always so bitter on this sight. I would tend to believe a Thai side of things more than not, myself.

    A) You're a "newbie" who hasn't been in LOS very long and have no idea of how things really are.

cool.png You've been here too long and have your own personal, reserved bar stool with your #1, "I love only you" bar girl guarding it for you.

Those of us who have been here a few years, and longer, and not spent that time clutching our bar stools know that believing a Thai is tantamount to surrendering your sensibilities and throwing away all sense of logic.

You are obviously living in a very different place in LOS than me. Perhaps you should get out of Pattaya or Phuket whistling.gif

  2. Isn't it unusual for immigration to strip him down to his shorts for the photo on arrival? smile.png

Plus, is it just me or isn't it a bit odd that we don't see a proper "after" photo to compare to the "before" one. TBH, from his face he doesn't look like he's lost a huge amount of weight.

Your !kin kidding! From the photos of his face it is obvious he has lost a large amount of weight.

A small change in the fat on a face is a lot on the whole body.

  3. I say good for the US for stepping up to the plate. May God Bless the efforts of those headed into harms way. This guy is a fricken terrorist pure and simple. It also has been going on for years and its about flippen time "someone" stepped up to attempt to do something. . NIgeria is beyond corrupt and has done next to nothing to stop him. I pray that the US can. I also would lobby that this is a clear case of "dammed if we do, dammed if we do not". Meaning we will take the piss no matter what the outcome is.

Not that I give a tinkers dam, just hope and pray that these girls get back to their homes and this guy gets a bullet in the head very soon.........................................................

Who is "This guy" you are refering too?

  4. Terry you know the police are partially to blame. They throw themselves in front of traffic to get cars to stop and even try to grab on to motorcycles to make them stop. Im not saying this man is not at fault because he is. But police should have a better system to get drivers than standing at a checkpoint waiting to grab you.

A few years ago I had a motobike accident in Pattaya when a "policeman" rushed out of nowhere and tried to stop me. He grabbed my arm and it took me down and him with me. Broke the bike up a little but nothing major, but it did cut me up a bit. He hurt his ankle or foot. I went toe to toe in his face SCREAMING at him and pushing him until he backed down and let me go. I had a farang meltdown on him, and I'm a pretty stocky big guy, not an older easy to pick on type. I think the whole episode, going down with me and my total freak out, startled him. Whatever the case, that was one stop that didn't go the way he though it was going to. I've had a couple of run ins with real idiot police in Pattaya, almost always the same thing with them jetting out in front of you and trying to stop you on a bike at 3am on some side soi. No thanks. I suppose I am partly to blame by being out at 3 - 4 am, but what is Pattaya for if you can't be out that late?

Driving a car, have not had any real issues yet. Just normal stops, always polite and send me on my way. The way it should be. It's only on a bike and in Pattaya where I've had a few real problems. f

glad it worked out for you.

this story is about a homicidal maniac who cared nothing for the lives and family of his rage.

being sent free to do more harm.

How did you come to this conclusion?

To me it seem like a very unfortunate accident partly caused by the guy speeding and partly by the poor set ups of police road blocks.

How this makes him a 'Raging homicidal maniac' I don't know.

  5. I know nothing of Mr. Geldof's kids, but I know what he himself has done and tried to do to help people in this world and he is a really good man, so I feel deeply for him and his family at this time of mourning. It's always sad when bad things happen to good people.

Unfortunately, he was adept at personal aggrandizement. His contributions are not as significant as he made them out to be. I do not believe he was a "good" man. He was an opportunist and he has been roundly criticized for it too. His daughter Peaches did not accomplish anything of substance in life, but is lauded as a TV presenter. Nice. She makes the news because she too was good at personal PR like her father. Last week, a public health service nurse died while caring for victims of the latest African Ebola outbreak. She didn't rate the news release despite doing more for humanity than Peaches.

Yes, it is sad that someone has died. However, she makes the news because of the cult of celebrity not because of her contribution to society.

The usual negative <deleted> from 'Mr life-of-the party'.

She is being remembered because of her parents and particularly Bob. Health workers worldwide don't make the news because of lack of interest by readers.

Bob Geldof's contribution to music and starvation abatement is well recognised and he certainly has an awful lot more good in him than TV naysayers.

She is a loss to her family and my thoughts are with them. RIP Peaches.

Yep, sounds like a bunch of bitter, jealous bs that says more about the utterer to focus on such perceived negativity during a sad incident and use daughter's death as opportunity to bash father.

. . . and since women are dying in Sudan no one should make a big deal about this girl's death . . . C'mon. Don't be ridiculous. I am sure her family would gladly trade the publicity surrounding her death for getting their daughter back. Just more bitter, jealousy driven drivel.

So you are saying everyone should feel more empathy to her parent(s) because she is "famous".

Why should there be more of a big deal made about this girl's death than the women dying in Sudan that you brought up?

  6. I think like everybody else, the families "substance Abuse" problem.

    But

Officers found 'no hard drugs, no suicide note, no visible signs of injury', it has been claimed

So let's wait for the official inquest findings

    Who needs an official inquest.

This is Thai Visa and it will be solved on here long before any official inquest knows what happened whistling.gif

  7. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

Why were her parents not making sure their 14 year old daughter was safe at all times ?

What was she doing to be in a vunerable situation ?

What parents in their right minds wouldn't offer total protection to their daughter ?

The parents are to blame here 100%

The report said he raped her...........the girl said he tried too.blink.png.pagespeed.ce.AQgCnSOpp_.png alt=blink.png width=20 height=20>

<deleted> she doing in a toilet with the guy in the first place? Did he drag her in there or did she go willingly?

Has she responded like any 14 year old girl would do if caught by Mommy...........was it a case of "Wasn't me mum it was him"

Can't defend any guy for trying it on with a 14year old but the reporting on this incident is typical of a 2-bit rag

Have either of you two been to Thailand, let alone a construction workers camp cheesy.gif

  8. my girlfriend does not have the capacity to buy gold herself. I am very much appreciated for buying her nice things, I personally dont give a rats xxxx what other people think. if my lady is happy so am I.I have many wealthy friends back home, most are dick heads when it comes to money. you cant buy class, but here in Thailand having some gold when you are unable to obtain it yourself does earn respect despite what Thai folks say.

Total rolox, YOU are being looked at as a farang Buffalo. Thai folk don't give shit about the bird, she has relieved you of cash.....

farang buffalo! yeah good one dopey! wouldn't want to be your girlfriend /wife.. its not fleecing when freely given, and I don't care too much for Thai folk who are paranoid and jealous of farang..neither does my girlfriend.. and what would Thai folks say about a Thai person who gives his girlfriend /wife something nice. that he is a Thai buffalo.. you should really come into the 21st century it is so much more fun.

laugh.png , You ever see a Thai couple draped in gold....? Noooooooooooo, sorry guy, you want to look stupid to the locals, you carry on. ....thumbsup.gif

May I ask where you met your bird who likes walking around draped in gold, her position in life before you ?. Tell the truth now.........thumbsup.gif

I imagine the same place you did. Does your kid have red hair and a big co?k, he could be mine.biggrin.png

  9. What's the point of owning stuff if you can't or don't wear it? All those of you who bought things for your partner and keep them all locked up and hidden away, why on earth did you buy the stuff for her in the first place? i say good on her for wanting to wear it, that's why you buy jewellery right....to wear. In saying this Thai's like to wear their gold as it shows they have a kind of success and it's all about face. The more gold the better they look. My partner has some gold such as necklace, bracelet, earings etc and yes she does wear them all. But I certainly haven't gone overboard buying her whatever she wants and she certainly doesn't ask for anything either.

WHY buy that stuff in the first place.??????????????????????

Do you not understand that it reads to most...........Bar girl hooked a farang...................sad.png

Do you see Thai rich folk wearing that stuff.....???????????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.............coffee1.gif

So because your so tight to buy some gold for your wife to wear, that makes her hi-so not a bar girl?cheesy.gif

  10. I have never seen one of those vans in the right hand lane in that area of Sukumvit, they are always speeding in the left hand lane so that they can pick up additional passengers so I think the driver is telling a great big fib

We are talking about mini vans, they do not pick up additional passengers wandering along the road.

You are obviously talking about a song taew.

Another TV member who does not live here or have any idea.

  11. Hi,

I'm the Dane it happen to and I feel I need to comment on this.

First of all, I've learned my lesson. I'm not going anywhere alone anymore and never taking another tuktuk. In regards to the whole insurance "scam", which seems to be the center of attention, you should know the insurance companies in Denmark does not cover the loss of cash and valuables that worth less then 5000 USD.

I used the Asoke as a landmark as I was going to visit a girl who I know who lives nearby, and do not know this city very well and everything looks the same to me - especially in the nighttime. It is true that I don't have any cuts or stabs, but I do have severe bruising on my chest and my knee after being stomped upon a couple of times. I tried my best in English to report the incident to the policemen, but they did not understand a word of it. The next day I went to Police station at Khao San as it was the only station I had stumbled upon while being here, but they told me that it was not possible for me to fill in a report there. I waited until monday because I needed assistance from one who speaks Thai so the incident could be reported probably.

I can live with loosing the cash, and I can even live with loosing the my phone which had photos of my nieces and nephews growing up, but being from Denmark I must admit that having a knife to the throat has left some inner scars on me. Since the incident I have not left my room after nightfall.

In regards to my neighbor, he was in a different area or so I think, heading home from the RCA.

I hope this clarifies some of the questions you guys might have had. I lost my phone, I lost my camera, I lost some cash, but I didn't loose my life and for that I thank God!

The premium for this insurance must be very low.

Why would anyone pay for insurance that only covered lost/theft above $5,000.

You made a police report so you could claim insurance.

What else are you claiming they took apart from a phone and 10,000 baht to get above 150,000 baht limit ??

  12. Never take a tuk-tuk anywhere, scum of the earth and twice at least what a cab would cost.

Was with my Wife in Pattaya in 2001 and we always used the Tuk Tuk. Every ride was around 20 baht. Never had a problem.

Pattaya don't have any Tuk-Tuks in taxi service, only some hotels use them to transport their customers on shorter distances.

The guy is refering to 2001, so obviously not a regular visitor.

Probably does not know the difference between a tuk tuk and a songthaew.

  13. He as probably using the BTS as a landmark spot where there could be no confusion and there would be taxis and/or police he could make a better travel plan. What is appalling is this notation in the story:

"They all pretty much laughed at me, when I told them what had just happened. Surprisingly enough one of them gave me 200 baht, so I could get a taxi home, “ he said."

It sounds like the job netted the crooks/police/spotter/tuktuk driver a net of 9800.

To me the story sounds like total BS and the Dane is trying to net himself a free 10,000 baht refund from his insurance company when he gets home.
