rooster59
NBTC to auction 95 ‘auspicious’ phone numbers By The Nation The Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) will auction off 95 “auspicious” phone numbers later this month, hoping to raise more than Bt80 million. Takorn Tantasith, NBTC secretary general, told a press conference at the Siam Paragon shopping mall that the auction will be held on November 26. It will be the third phone number auction this year, but it will be different from the two first auctions. Takorn said that the first two auctions were aimed at selling phone numbers that featured the same digits. The new auction will feature numbers with the same digits and numbers that have been selected and certified as auspicious by a guru on number-based fortune telling. Takorn said the 95 phone numbers have been selected from 2,000 numbers by the guru, Kongthanatkul Setthisathaporn. And the 2,000 phone numbers were selectedby NBTC from 90 million numbers. “This is a new dimension of phone number auction by the NBTC,” Takorn said. The 95 numbers are called “beautiful numbers that are auspicious and will make you rich”, Takorn added. He said 13 out of the 95 phone numbers will feature the same digit seven times and their bidding price will start at Bt3 million each. There will also be 77 numbers with six of the same digits and their starting price will be Bt500,000. He said there will also five numbers that feature two sets of four same digits and their starting bidding price is Bt500,000. The bidding will be carried out via a web-based application inside the auditorium on the second floor of the NBTC office. The auction will start at 09:09am. He said the proceeds after expenses will be sent to the Finance Ministry, and the NBTC Office hopes to raise more than Bt80 million.
