BANGKOK, 4th July 2018 (NNT)- The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has held a seminar on tourism statistical development to align the management of tourism statistics with global standards.

Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Pongpanu Svetarundra said during the seminar, which will continue until Thursday, that its objective was to improve the collection of tourism statistical data for the benefit of all tourism-related agencies in Thailand.

An expert from Australia in the field of tourism statistics was invited to give a speech to over 100 people from Thai tourism units and members of the World Tourism Organization, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, as well as Eurostat.

Pongpanu also stressed the need to improve the statistical analyzes of the overall tourism sector, tourism-related Big Data and tourism cash flow in order to promote tourism growth in the future.

He further added that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and related agencies would work side-by-side to accommodate such growth while also promoting the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) industry, and tourism spending to make Thailand more competitive on a global scale.
