Which 'no frills' airlines fly from BKK or Chiang Mai to Kunming, Yunnan?

None. AirAsia are supposedly going to start flying this and other southern China routes real soon now, but I have been hearing this tale for going on two years.

NO, the only airlines doing the route are TG and China Southern, and only TG makes a stop in CNX on this route.

Simplky cvheck their website, try out a few dates for current pricng, but its the normal +frills standard

If you're not in a huge hurry you could fly to Hanoi and then go overland. I think it's about 10 hours by bus, + there's a train (via Nanning)

Glad to know that it's not just me. I've never been able to get any useful flight information from the English language section of China Southern's website either.
