US offers studies at top military academies

The United States is offering scholarships to Cambodian students to study in top military academies, including West Point. A US embassy statement yesterday said that those who will be between 17 and 23 years old on July 1 next year can apply for the scholarships to study four-year courses offered by West Point, the US Naval Academy at Annapolis and the US Coast Guard Academy in New London.

 

The statement said that interested high school graduates should pass the SAT, TOEFL and fitness tests before emailing their applications before November 1. The embassy said that it will screen applicants based on their scores to determine if they are as competitive as other candidates who are being selected worldwide.

 

The embassy and the Defence Ministry will make the final decision on who is qualified for selection. The statement said that selected students will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree after undergoing a “stressful and demanding curriculum” that will challenge their intellectual, military and physical abilities.

Interesting that the offer was made to Cambodian students, why not Thai as well, or do Thai students get the chance ?

I know a Thai student that attended the US Air Force Academy.  There are slots allowed for many freight students.
