BANGKOK, 8th September 2018 (NNT) – The first vice president of the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand (NLA), Surachai Liengboonlertchai, has announced that the six municipal election related bills will be tabled in mid-September.

The cabinet earlier this week endorsed six draft local election laws namely the City Council Election Act, the Subdistrict Administration Organization Act, the Provincial Administrative Organization Act, the Municipal Act, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Act, and the City of Pattaya Act.

The Government Whip will forward the six laws to the NLA Whip tentatively by Tuesday, September 11th. The NLA Whip will then include the bills in the legislature’s weekly sitting.

Surachai added that it is still uncertain whether separate committees will be appointed to vet the bills, or the vetting will be assigned to a single committee.

Surachai expects the six laws to pass in the assembly no later than December.
