Aung San Suu Kyi arrived in Cambodia

Myanmar state counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi yesterday arrived in the Kingdom for a three-day official visit to strengthen relations and with Cambodia.
According to a Foreign Affairs Ministry statement, Ms Suu Kyi will be in the Kingdom until Wednesday.


She is scheduled to meet King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk at the Royal Palace today. Ms Suu Kyi will then hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Hun Sen, and meet Senate President Say Chhum and National Assembly President Heng Samrin.


Tomorrow, she will lay wreaths at the Independence Monument and at the monument of the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk before visiting temples in Siem Reap province. Kin Phea, director-general of the International Relations Institute at the Royal Academy of Cambodia, yesterday said both countries currently face international scrutiny over political, democratic and human rights issues.
