Utter nonsense. Churchill is widely regarded as Britain’s greatest Prime Minister, he was not elected to the office of war time Prime Minister and nobody claimed it was some attack on democracy or ‘Soviet’ nonsense. Burnham is PM, Churchill was PM, they were both ‘elevated to the highest public office in the land’ neither were elected to that office, no PM has been elected to the office of PM. You’ll just have to file that with all the other garbage you imagine to fill gaps in stuff you don’t know. I don’t claim to know what Brits think in the ballot box, you do. I simply point out the fact that, outside of the PM’s own parliamentary constituency, no member of the general public gets to vote for the Prime Minister. Don’t spend too much time imagining stuff to avoid that fact.
