Geoffggi
Well done to the fire crew, it will not have been an easy fire to handle...
Darkside Gray
Hope they check out the elevated highway all that heats not good for concrete.

Tyre letting go is from over inflation compounded by pressure increase from load carrying , cornering etc and will fling rubber debris everywhere only .. More likely scenario is the trailer brakes have overheated ( likely cause of that is binding ) to the point of ignition of surrounding components like plastic mudguards , pipework and the paint ..

I was on the expressway as it happened, about 10 cars behind the first that turned on its hazard lights and stopped, not daring to go further. Approximately 100m before the blaze below. Flames rose a good 10m above the expressway. Sorry for the super blurry photo, zoomed in to the max. The little red lights in the bottom right corner is from a car's rear in front so that gives idea of scale. Edited June 4, 2019 by YTP

They should but I bet they won't. Spalling of concrete, even softening, moving of reinforcing bars in the concrete needs to be checked
hotchilli
I think a structural inspection would be mandatory before reopening the overhead expressway?
pieeyed
If you people would take time to read the article above it says that damage was done to the expressway overhead.
