The Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand (ACT) has called on the incoming government to get tough on corruption and to make sure that members of the coalition parties do not get involved in corrupt practices.

ACT chairman Mr. Wichien Pongsathorn told a news conference today (Thursday) that the arrival of a new government should be an opportunity to start a vigorous war against corruption with the participation of all parties.

The ACT, he said, has come up with a six-point recommendation to be proposed to the new government for consideration.

You can "call on" someone to do something all you want, but that doesn't mean they will necessarily do it.

Especially when the same people have had the last 5 yrs to do something, and we can clearly see the results of that !!!

New government urged to get tough on graft

Most of the members of the government (particularly pro junta) have Masters Degrees in Corruption. Look no further than the junta Senate selection panel and those fortunate chosen friends and family who now have access to the trough and in return are beholden to the demands of the Prime Minister.

Also the elite business friends of the junta who offer temptations to Ministers to help achieve their greedy financial goals.

Corruption is deeply entrenched as a way of life in the business, civil service and political world of Thailand. Nothing is likely to change it.

Yes, there will be an all-out war on corruption…. Corruption, though by Thai definition, refers to any government official making ‘unofficial’ money that he does share with the bosses. Anyone who cheats the boss out of his rightful share is a vile, despicable swindler who deserves to face the righteous wrath of God.

ACT should add another recommendation for the government to come clean on all the corruption graft probes involving Prawit, Preechai, Anupong and the prime minister himself. A transparent investigation to clear their alleged corruption regarding unusual wealth will enhance credibility of this government. All for their good. ????

New government clarifies:

We will get tough on anyone else's graft

Yes that is the standard Thai thing to do go after corruption of their enemies and forget about their own.
