BANGKOK (NNT) - From 16th October this year to 15th March next year, some two million foreign workers from three neighboring countries who are required to undergo health assessments as part of their temporary residence permit application can pay the fee at any 7-11 stores around the clock.

The new service is offered under an arrangement between the Department of Medical Services and the Counter Service, providing greater convenience to foreign workers from Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, as well as their employers, allowing them to pay the foreign employees’ health inspection and insurance fee via Counter Service at any 7-11 store 24 hours a day.

The new service was introduced after the Cabinet’s resolution to allow workers from the three neighboring countries holding a valid work permit and visa to extend their temporary residency and employment in Thailand for two more years per application, without having to leave Thailand to process the request in their country of origin. The service is not applicable to workers employed in Thailand under MOUs.

Employers can take their employees to undergo a health inspection at any hospital under the Department of Medical Services, and then apply for a visa at the immigration office. After this process, payments can be paid at any 7-11 store by showing the barcode documents. A 10 baht fee will be added to each transaction.

There are 2,001,379 foreign workers from the three neighboring countries currently awaiting an extension application, including workers in fisheries and seafood processing, nationality verified workers, and those requiring filing or an update to their profiles.

Just turn your head and cough.   Do you want lube or dry, glove or no glove?

7Eleven is owned by CP. CP was always pro-regime during the past five years.  2,000,000 foreign laborers stopping by wouldn't hurt their business. Strangely, CP also got that train contract. I wonder what else. CP owns True, 7Eleven, Makro, Aro foods at Makro and owns and partneres with more businesses.
