Hi thunder Road,

I am assuming that you have left Thailand now, and are enquiring about this for your next entry.

Without knowing in more detail how many days you have spent in Thailand in the past 180 days, it is difficult to give you any meaningful advice.

It may also depend on the date of your first entry into Thailand after Oct 1.

But, if in Doubt, get a Visa, then you know where you stand.

Cheers

From the information you give it appears somewhere between extremely unlikely and completely unnecessary that you will require a visa (unless the immigration officer gave you 30 days by mistake).

There are reports that Phnom Penh is issuing tourist visas with a warning not to bother returning for another. As you are based in Cambodia they may treat you favourably but I’d delay getting a visa from PP until you are certain one will be required. One day you may need a visa urgently.

When you decide what date you will next enter Thailand find the first (earliest) Visa free entry made within the 6 months before that date. E.g if you wish to re-enter on 10-05-07 look back to 10-11-06 and find your first entry after that date. Total up the number of visa free days spent in Thailand after that date (including days of arrival and departure) and subtract from 90. That will tell you how many days you have remaining. A lot simpler than it sounds.

A reported difficulty is that they may not permit you to stay after the completion of the 6 month period starting from that first entry. E.g. If you intend to re-enter on 10-05-07 and you first entered (after 10-11-06) on 15-11-06 they may only stamp you in until 14-05-06 irrespective of how many days you have outstanding. If you do not see the logic or fairness in this, you will be in good company. If you feel you may be in this situation and it would cause a problem then, yes, get a visa.

Best advice keep reading this forum.
