Non Immigrant O Visa - (Q)

Featured Replies

Hi.

Have a couple of questions on the Non Immigrant O visa.

In the U.S. Thai Non immigrant O, 90 day visa ($80.00) and a Non immigrant O, multiple entry ($200.00).

Thai Consulate of Los Angeles website quotes the Non O multiple entry is valid for 1 year.

Is this valid for one year or 180 day then extend the visa to a year when you arrive in Thailand?

Can someone briefly explain the difference between the Non O multiple entry and 1 year O-A visa?

Jerry.

A multi entry Non O Visa gives unlimited entries of up to 90 days each entry for a period of 12 months from date of issue,.

This would give you around 15 months stay.

A one year O-A Visa gives unlimited entries of up to 12 months each entry for a period of 12 months.

This would give you around 2 years.

Money in bank needed plus expensive low quality insurance.

Non O = 90 days permission to stay on entry

O-A = 365 days permission to stay on entry

Multi = as many entries as you like during the validity dates of the VISA.

The OA visa is Multi Entry also valid for 1 year but each time you enter you get a stamp for 1 year. So, by entering just before your visa expires you can get 2 years from the OA.

First year is Multi Entry and second year needs re-entry permits to keep your permission to stay alive.

As well as financial requirements the OA requires a police check ( from your home country) a simple medical certificate ( download from Embassy website) but also the “ dreaded “ Mandatory health insurance !!

You didn't say on what basis you want a visa.  If you want a visa for those over age 50, the Non-O for over age 50 is not offered in the United States.

Hi.

Thank all for your response.

@SEtonal

I am over 50 single. Are you saying I cannot apply for a Non Immigrant O 90 day or Multi entry visa in the U.S. The Los Angeles Thai Consulate website does not specify an age limit for 90 day O visa.

What if I want to extend a 90 day Non O to a 12 month extension?

Jerry.

Jerry10.

Except for some unfathomable reason unless you apply for an "O" for retirement at some Thai Embassies and Consulates in the area

Why there is a difference ?  Typical Thainess, rules are up to the enforcer, and no one at Ministry of Foreign Affairs dares to reign in these overseas fiefdoms,  just like we live with "rouge" ISO's in Thailand,  that Royal Thai Immigration refuses to control at home
