Hello ThaiVisa!

First and foremost, this is my first of hopefully many posts in the community. ????

I'm planning to get the 6-month, 60-day per stay METV in September and have the flight to TH a few days later. I plan to stay in TH for 8/9 months with that and I want to make sure that it's possible and hassle-free with this visa type.

The questions I have are as follows:

1. Do I need a confirmation of a ticket out of Thailand for my first arrival at the Bangkok airport?

2. Will I need a confirmation of a ticket out of Thailand for every border run I do every 2 months? Does it have to be a flight ticket as well?

3. Are the land border runs a safe option with METV? What's the risk of being denied entry?

Thanks so much for the response and have a great evening ahead!

Sorry, I didn't see the big METV thread at the top. Feel free to remove this.

Just couple of your questions.

Re onward flight requirement for metv in your own country, it may vary. Check your embassy.

Once here for border run an onward flight etc not required.

Land border option VERY safe ect for poipet. Just read up on good border bounce options.

I personally would always travel with money and details of accom and itinerary etc esp flights into don Mueang.

To achieve the 9 months I would keep your 2 annual visa exempt border entries "up your sleeve" for last entry to milk the 9 months.

I plan to be using the border closest to Pattaya, is that fine as well you think?

No problem. You will have an METV.

Pattaya not the most easy. With an metv you could consider flights. Saigon is ripper joint and think Vietjet do flights from U-Tapao to Saigon. Not sure if Polish visa exempt to Vietnam.

Flight up north to udon thaini and short trip to border I would also recommend.

For your last entry to get the 9 months use a land border.

From Pattaya border crossing maybe Trad. It's not close but you could include chill visit to koh Chang.

Other more experienced guys will be along with better options. However all possible.

The closest to Pattaya is Aranyaprathet/Poipet which you should avoid. There have recently been reports of problems at a couple of other border crossings within reach of Pattaya, though this was with multiple Non O visas rather than METVs. It is difficult to say what the situation is liable to be within a few months when you need to do a border run. It is probable that something feasible can be worked out.

Note that assumptions of no issues for your first arrival by air with an METV depends on your having limited previous time in Thailand. If there is some history, you would be well advised to describe it to us, and let us assess your risk.

Hello mate, thanks so much for your help.

The only time I have been in Thailand before was in 2018 for 2-week holidays. Apart from that, nothing.

Great! No issues for the first few months on the METV.

By first few months, you mean how many, mate?

And btw, this is something that popped up in my head now: should I pack all my stuff for every border run and bring it with me, in case I get rejected at the border?

There is no longer any kind of hassle free tourist visas when dealing with Thailand.

It sounds like you would be ok with this one, though.

You could safely enter by air, I think, for at least the first four months or so. After that, you would likely be OK at some airports, but I would recommend entering only through friendly land crossings. Assuming things remain as they are now, you will be fine for the full 8-9 months on the METV assuming you follow this protocol.

Assuming Op can get the METV....

Easy doing border runs from Pattaya, the mini vans go to the same border Ban Pakard, 2300 baht usually.

To get nearly 9 months you have to apply for the visa just before you fly. The 6 months validity is from when the visa is issued by the consulate
