JRG23
Hello. So I have been offered a job at a BOI company. Immigration at CW told me today that I can get a work permit with a Non-IMM O (marriage) visa. The officer said I don’t need to leave Thailand to get a Non-IMM B visa. Can use Non-IMM O. Is this correct? Can I (and my BOI firm) get a work permit with a BOI company with a Non-IMM O Visa? thank you so much for any advice.
Isaanbiker
If it's a Non-O based on marriage, yes. Please do not listen to people who tell you that you need a Non-B. I'm on Non O's for quite a long time and working at government schools. Edited March 17, 2020 by Isaanbiker
JRG23
Thank you. Then why is my BOI company saying I must have a NON B! It’s so frustrating. Don’t want to leave Thailand right now to get a Non B. Where can I call to prove to my BOI firm that I don’t need NON B??? There are different new regulations, but I never had a problem to work on my Non-O. Many companies and schools are not familiar with the Non-), perhaps because the retirement Non-O doesn't allow you to work.. If you Google you'll find websites telling you that you may not work, but you can get a work permit, etc... BTW, if your company wants you to be on a Non-B, there's no need to leave the country. You can easily do that at your local Immigration. As you already have a non- immigrant visa, it doesn't matter how long this process takes. You need all the documents and a certain income. For Non- B, you'll need a minimum of 50,000 baht. month, while the Non-O doesn't give you that problem. The only problem that could happen is once your job's gone, so is the visa. I've been here for 18 years, working here for 15 and I'm aware that all Immigration Offices seem to have their own rules. Why don't you go to your local Immigration, they should know that you can work on your Non-O. What's better proof then a statement coming from the Thai Immigration? Best of luck. P.S. BOI isn't that for Board of Investment? You didn't specify your employer. But that's not needed. Edited March 17, 2020 by Isaanbiker
cms22
Thanks. Is your experience with BOI companies? I must be specific... is the Non B requirement valid for BOI firms? Or can I get a BOI work permit with a Non O?
