LONDON (Reuters) - Britain is nowhere near lifting the lockdown measures it put in place to tackle the spread of the coronavirus as the peak is still more than a week away, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said on Wednesday.

When he announced the nationwide lockdown on March 23, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said it would be reviewed after three weeks.

Asked during an interview on BBC Radio whether the lockdown should be lifted next Monday, Khan said: “I think we are nowhere near lifting the lockdown.

“We think the peak, which is the worst part of the virus, is still probably a week and a half away,” he added.

Sadiq Khan is one of the biggest reasons UK has been hit so hard. On March 3, he said there was no risk to the public riding on mass transport or going to concerts on UK TV news. On March 10, he doubled down via Twitter and said there were no specific concerns with the use of mass transportation.

It appears the best way to fight the coronavirus in UK is to get rid of Sadiq Khan.

Apart from being a complete pillock he's one of those know-it-all-knobs that will blame everything on the government anyway.

He's appalling and only elected because of the large numbers of non ethnic British in the London Mayoral electorate.

Fortunately this is up to the government, not Khan. If he were the one making the decisions you can be sure that the UK would have thousands more cases since everything he touches turns into a disaster.

One would assume Khan was acting upon specialist advice received at the time. The advice he received must have changed changed rapidly according to circumstance.
