According to a lawyer I know, there are too many foreigners who haven't returned to their home country, so all immigrants have been stranded in the country.

 

Some of them are open on Saturday the 26th, but they can't handle them for sure. The government is going to make an announcement about the future of visa issuance after 26th.

 

Should I wait for overstay and not buy a visa?

Or should I pay 20,000 baht and buy a medical visa tomorrow?

 

I hear that the immigration is overcrowded right now and you can't get an extension. Then it wouldn't be a problem if I overstayed, would it?

 

Right after I bought a three month medical visa, when I got three months of free amnesty visa, I became a fellow student protestor in Bangkok,

 

they did that in April, extended it by a month and I got an amnesty.

 

If you overstayed and get caught by immigration, you will be banned from coming to Thailand for x years. Is it worth the risk?

 

Overstaying a few days is acceptable but not few months.

 

Why didn't you go earlier?

 

Nowadays, they have fingerprinting so changing new passport won't help.

 

Go and renew your visa.

It's kind of late anyway.  You could get a 30 day covid extension and then go from there.   Or use an agent that can possibly still get you 1 year extension + overstay waiver (if it is just a couple of days).

 

I suspect they will make an announcement on or after 26th with some kind of additional extension. But who knows what or which visa group it would cover.   Even for Thai standards, it was kind of irresponsible IMO for Thai gov't to wait so long for such an important announcement.

They have eliminated fingerprinting because they don't want everyone touching the same thing and spreading covid.

The Thai government doesn't "need" to announce anything. The last announcement says that the amnesty ends September 26, and immigration has several times said that there won't be another one. You must be able to understand that,right? That imo is the most important thing.

They don't need fingerprints to establish who you are. Your name, country,photo and date of birth is in the immigration database.

As are the fingerprints, Immigration Officers throughout the world routinely have portable fingerprint scanners to quickly identify people when carrying out enforcement duties.

Thailand, like many other countries, scan fingerprints electronically on admission and departure for prompt identification of those of interest. 

Just overstay. It's Thailand and overstay is widely accepted. Just pay and you will be ok. They don't even chase down people on 7 years overstay, you read the news in the past when they got caught.

 

Don't listen to the professional scaremongers on TVF.

If you can get a 3 month visa for 20k then sure, why not. You'd have to pay that anyway in overstay fees.

 

And a word of advice: Stay away from any type of protests while being in Thailand as a foreigner. It's none of your business and the easiest way to get arrested or your documents checked.

If you want to take risks like that yourself, go ahead. You may well get away with it. However, do not try to induce others into taking such a risky (I would say reckless) course of action. Anyone doing this faces a potential very uncomfortable month in the IDC, followed by deportation and a five-year or longer ban from entering Thailand. That is assuming you are financially capable to paying the fines and full price air ticket necessary for deportation. If short of funds, the potential consequences are worse.

There are fake passports in the market where you can get a different name, different country etc.

 

That's why they implemented fingerprints and facial recognition software recently before the border closure in March.

These days, while fake passports and forged stamps in your passport are available, you will almost certainly not be able to use the fake passport to leave the country. There will be no record of your passport and entry into Thailand in the immigration system. It is conceivable that a corrupt senior official at a land border might be able to stamp you in to Thailand without you leaving with the old passport. However, it would be very expensive to arrange something like that, and likely impossible with land borders closed.

Not if 1) You are not arrested or

         2) You plan a flight out and arrive at the airport with 500 baht/ day of overstay. or

         3) Immigration keep processing Extensions (directly or via agents) and you can pay

             overstay and maybe agent costs.

Presuming immigraton will waive all fines etc, (ie an amnesty.....) purely because you  left it too late is optimistic.

I think Sundown is one of a few who realized that original post was just for entertainment and was not meant serious.

They don't have access to any international database and even their own national one will not return immediate results. It's just for show and record keeping.

20k baht for 3 months visa is okay

 

Overstay and pay 20k baht is also okay

 

Getting banned for 2 years to enter the country when you overstay >1 year is also okay, considered covid-19 will hinder you from fly out until somebody finds a real working vaccines.

 

Choice is yours. But dont join those protesters, i wouldnt do that.
