ASEAN NOW News
The city of San Juan which has been off on a tourism route lately, have just announced the reopening of their underrated El Deposito museum, with intriguing new attractions for August. While that announcement was met with quite a bit of excitement, Mayor Francis Zamora’s latest announcement for yet another tourism attraction has also met with decidedly mixed results. Posting a photo of himself posing with members of the Marcos family, including Imelda Marcos, Senator Imee Marcos, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, and Irene Marcos, on several different social media platforms, Zamora announced that the San Juan house will become part of the city’s tourist trail. Sen. Bongbong, Sen. Imee and Tita Irene showed media around their residence in San Juan during First Lady Imelda Marcos’ 92nd birthday dinner. Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos Sr. was a Filipino politician, lawyer, and kleptocrat who served as the 10th president of the Philippines from 1965 to 1986. Estimates of the ill-gotten wealth of the Marcos family vary, with most sources accepting a figure of about US$5–10 billion for wealth acquired in the last years of the Marcos administration, but with rough extreme estimates of wealth acquired since the 1950s going as high as US$30 billion. This Marcos ancestral home where President Ferdinand Marcos lived will be part of our city’s historical trail, which we will be launching this year to help promote San Juan as a tourist destination,” Zamora posted.
