etxkgh
Want to take my filipina gf out for a romantic dinner on her birthday. Any suggestions for romantic restaurants with french/italian/chinese or thai cuisine ?
OldAsiaHand
Phillippe's on Soi 39, about 500 meters off Sukhumvit. Low-key, quite, nice lighting, no loud music, not a busy area, run by a delightful French chef, dignified, and a first-rate, completely professional Thai staff. I've been going there for years and can't recommend it hightly enough. Just insist on sitting at one of the banquettes against the wall downstairs. shopgurl
Cafe Bourgiorno (located in a soi in soi sukhumvit 33-there's signs, don't worry), italian cuisine, converted house, very romantic atmosphere. There's this other really nice restaurant over around rama 3, right next to the river. Buritara (over at Chatuchak market #3), thai/mix cuisine, very romantic! number here: 026829457
frequentatore
LINO sukhumvit 31. Small restaurant, romantic atmosphere. Very good Italian food, reasonable prices.
appleman_thai
You can also check out CONFUSION on Sukhumvit 23. Serving Continental THai Fusion Cuisine you can relax and indulge in the exciting fusion of east and west. The decor has a warm mediterannean feel to it, service is friendly and the music and lighting all add up to make it a very romantic place indeed! For more info - www.thaiconfusion.com Try the stir fried Ostrich with black peppers thai style............and the deep fried ice cream for dessert is awesome! Pity the only way to a mans heart is thru his stomach doesnt work for women too...............but the Emporium isnt far so you can bring her shopping afterwards! Open for lunch?
thaihome
Our favourite is "Eat Me" on a small sub soi off Soi Convent. Great atmosphere with a Thai/Italian sort of fusion thing menu. Dinner for 2, with bottle of wine runs, about 2-3K. TH
Jester
Has to be Sirocco, a new roof-top bar overlooking the river and Thonburi beyond. On the 60something floor of State Tower at the lower end of Silom Road, just before the river, one junction on from Holiday Inn (I think). As pricey as it gets in BKK, but when you step out of the lifts and onto the lit stairway you will not regret it. Very busy now at weekends, so book in advance. 2,000B a head is about right with wine.
piet pompies
Frequentatore, Philpppe is good. 4 persons, Europeans 2 bottles of wine, appetizer, main course dessert can be had for 3500 baht approx if you drink house wine. about 850 a bottle. Food is good standard french, not Nouvelle. Like many french restaurants, correct in atmosphere if you like french food. Have been there several times, ( 6). Romantic Thai option in the evening is Raan Maalika, Suk Soi 22. Phone 026633211. In a Soi off 22. Go down Suk past Queens Park, past fire station , first right. Will not disappoint at night. Waterfall, excellent food, romantic. For lunch, there is an A/C room. Consistent, also been many times. Reserve for evening. Good winelist at moderate prices.Australian and Chile for approx 1000+B. Hazara, Indian and Thai food, near Thonglor station. Good design, romantic, but food not memorable. Have branches in Shanghai and??

frenchFARANGbkk
hi, Are some of these restaurants quite dark? Or do you know restaurants with little cabins where you can eat without anybody to see you? (as example, in France I know restaurants in castle where you can eat in little cell, very nice!) Thanks for help!
frenchFARANGbkk
HIBISCUS on top of landmark is nice.
frenchFARANGbkk
But who tried MAHANAGA? (.com) I just wonder if I really need to eat a dish of rice before going there, because it seems they won't feed me enough even with 3000 baht...
