I have read on another thread how at least in older generations it was customary to call a baby ugly, or even worthy of slapping in order to make evil spirits not interested in it. The parent should automatically know you are really intending the opposite - only the ghosts are fooled. In that other thread the phrases used are all in Eng transliterations that don't really produce any good results. Any of you out there know the phrases and up to spelling them in THai for us ?

There was 'nachang' or 'nasang'

'ben ta ti' which is I think 'pen ta dtii' but again, still transliterating =rubbish

and then 'yak ja ti man' which sounds horribly funny if I understand it in all its beauty

yak ja ti man - I think sounds like "I want to kick you"

and

Pen ta dtii - sounds like "good slave"

I could be wrong, but this is what it sounds like.
