A LONE MAN launched a surprise physical attack on Progressive Movement leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit at a crowded hall in Bangkok Sunday (Oct 23).

Thanathorn was mingling with visitors to a book fair on its final day at Sirikit International Convention Centre when the male assailant, identified as Kanetpitsanuthep Jakkapopmahadeja alias Kay Roy Larn, scrambled toward him and firmly put his arm around his neck.

Wresting his arm around Thanathorn’s neck, the assailant said he was carrying a bomb, scaring away many visitors.

If its a time bomb he'll never hear it due to all his own watches ticking

What surprised me was the 'clause 'lone man attacks ...'  When have Thais fought one on one?  I supposed the surprise element compensates for the missing six others in his gang.

He is the last person in the world this decrepit and failed administration wants to run against. He is popular, capable, smart and unlike all the ugly generals, he is good looking and photogenic. Thailand desperately needs inspiring leadership.

Down with the dinosaurs. In with the youth. Let Thailand progress and move forward.

according to khaosod english and thai enquirer the attacker is an ultra-royalist with mental health problems.

He was doing many similar stunts in the past.

From the videos - hundreds people run away from the hall.

If to search his name in thai นายคเณศพิศณุเทพ จักรภพมหาเดชา :

Man charged after attacking Thanathorn at book fair

image.jpeg

A man with history of mental problems attacked Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, leader of the anti-establishment Progressive Movement, on Sunday at a book fair at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.

He also triggered a commotion after shouting in front of hundreds of people that he had a bomb.

Police identified the man as Kanespissanuthep Jakkrapobmahadeja, also known as “K Roi-laan”, who was later charged with causing false public alarm. The suspect had been involved in a series of similar incidents before, including one in which he released snakes at the Rajprasong Intersection in February this year.

The Thai Police should have "thrown the book" at the assailant!

Needs to be off the streets and in an asylum before he kills someone.

Exactly this....

This guy is potentially dangerous... next time it could be something more serious involving injuries and deaths to lots of innocents.

The warning signs are not just there, they have been repeated on 3 separate occasions.

The public need to be protected from such an unhinged character - he needs to kept away from people, the only way to do this is to lock him up.

They will need long arms to get around his neck.

Lucky those generals can't read, eh? They cab sure count, though, and tell time.

We are seeing more and more of these outbursts. Is this the result of not investing in mental health care? Being raised without ever hearing the word "no"? Being told to keep all your anger and frustrations bottled up? A combination of those?
