The Thai Justice Minister compensated 954,104 Baht to 12 victims of the Mountain B club fire that killed 26 pubgoers and injured a lot more on August 5th, 2022.

Minister Somsak Thepsutin personally handed the compensation money to 12 victims of the fire at the Sattahip District Office in Chonburi yesterday, January 10th.

He said that financial assistance would continuously be provided to the victims in line with the principles of the Rights and Liberties Protection Department. The first installment of compensation, totaling 2.17 million baht, was distributed to 19 victims on August 19, 2022, and the second installment, worth 1.9 million baht, was given to another 25 victims.

Just goes to show how cheap a life is worth here in my opinion.

Pathetic amount, more of an insult than compensation.

How about prison sentences for all involved in turning a blind eye to all the regulations in place  ,fire ,license, after hours etc

And they have to stand there and be pleased to get the money ,what an insult, absolutely disgusting

Yes, I expect there will be a photo opportunity, maybe even with giant cheques. Tempted to say better than nothing, but of course should never have even happened.

So who is ultimately footing the bill for compensation?

At the top when you create a post, to the left of the 'link' image, row 2 is strikethrough (on a laptop).

So, compensation for a life is about 1 months income for us expats ? Disgraceful

I saw one of the surviving, horribly burned and scarred victims on tv the other day.  No amount of money would compensate but it certainly should be more than this woefully inadequate, miserly amount.

Perfect.  Thank you.
