Thai women that live in many other countries get unemployment benefits, free hospital care and the pension when they get older. They don't have to get a ninety day report and they don't need a work permit once they get a residence visa, so being a male falung living with your Thai wife and kids and trying to provide a roof over their heads is difficult in Thailand, expats try hard but the rules change all the time. I feel frustrated by the way you have to get yearly visas and all the other hoops you have to jump through, my wife is free to live in NZ and receive all the things above, I like living here but it's not easy and expats are expected to be greatful. It would be nice if we got treated with a residents visa, I don't expect a pension or free health care but we should be treated better. There are to many criminal types of people let into Thailand and unfortunately honest expats deserve better. Weed out the rubbish that come here and this country would be far better off for honest tourism. That would be a miracle as there are so many criminals here now ruining a great country.
