But, what is worse, is the ratio of half an arrest per location visited! I can only assume that the boys in brown are all so pure and innocent that they didn't really know where to look (Patpong, Nana, Cowboy, for instance) and blew a whole bunch of time at Tsutaya video shops by mistake. Please give me an example (just one) of efficiency in the realm. Oop's sorry I forgot, the head waiters companies have appreciated up to 500% under his dubious leadership. Gotta be some efficiency there ( ) What a greedy bast*rd. The richest man in Thailand and he still can't get enough. I wouldn't be surprised if he (the head waiter) is not involved in the porn racket anyway. If there is money to be made who do you think will be at the front of the queue. So the thread starts off about a porn crackdown and now you're attacking Thaksin! Are you a Democrat? Who did you vote for in the last election? What are you doing, other than moaning on forums, to change the situation you find so distatseful? Do you moan as much about the greedy politicians and businessmen in the US or the UK? My (Irish) friend had thrown a cigarette on the floor. The cops took him off the main street, down some little shopping arcade and fined him 2,000 Baht. One of the two stayed outside the arcade, obviously making sure that nobody saw what was going on. No receipt was given for the 2,000 Baht.I imagine that the 91 arrests were of people who could not afford to pay the police a sufficient bribe. SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME, THE POLICEMAN TOOK ME OFF FROM MY TAXI IN A VERY RUDE WAY AND ASKED FOR THE 2000 Baht ..... I was lucky to be together with our Financial Manager (chinese) and we left the 2 policemen happy with 400 Baht, after almost 1 hour discussion ..... If you did not do anything other than sit in that car and gossip with your friend and this happened, as long as you have your passport papers in order, and is all legit as can be, this copper of a whopper cannot do a thing to you PERIOD. Your best defense in this case would be to say politely to such officer, either you charge me for some offense of which I have witnesses to say contrary to your charges or I leave and return to Taxi and leave you fuming. And if so being charged, write me the Ticket and I will submit such along with an Embassy Official and my witnesses to your Boss and settle it there and a lawsuit against you and the department will follow thereafter in Court. Guaranteed that officer will forget you and let you go. I don't think this officer wants to get fired for Bribery to Tourists without a valid complaint much less have him exposed to his commanders and to the PM himself. He wants that job and status quo. Dave I quoted the message I was referring to, I was smoking ..... than I saw a taxi coming and left my Marlboro falling from my fingers, jump into the taxi and the choccolate man started to hit the roof of the taxi, screaming that I had to get off .... and I was also a little bit scared since I didn't realize my crime!!!
