Ubctv Nos Changed To True Visions

Featured Replies

First post..

I have been a long suffering UBC subscriber and i was wondering about the Expat thinking on the recent changes to the packages. I have just got off the phone with Truevision care assistant rather bewildered and perplexed..

I have recently discovered that they have deleted Discovery Science from my gold package channel line up. I called True to find out if there was an error or some strange reason why this has been changed without warning and without a validating reason. I was told that I could watch the channel with the addition of an "A la carte" package (why would they call it that?) I was told that i would have to pay more money! (And the benefit to me is?)

Anyway I started to ask the reasons why and after 10 minutes of being pounded with sales cliche the lady Surani realised i was calling to complain and that a sale was not going to be forth coming from me. At which point she became curt and dismissive, she told me "I am not going to switch your Discovery channel back on so goodbye!" I was flabber ghasted and told her I had not finished discussing the matter. I told her I wanted to speak with her supervisor or manager. (yeah, i know that would be a waste of time) she told me she would not let me do that and I would have to "Write email, write email!". I tried to explain that as a customer I would like to know if she accepted that this was a breach of contract. she said that it was! (strange how truthful they can be!) I told her this was unacceptable and i would like to discuss it with a senior company member of Truevision. "Send email send email!" Seemed that we had got into parrot mode and so it was time to rest my ear.

The monoply on various media for TV programs will soon change I think. I hope they remember all the disappointed customers as their share price falls to the floor. As foreigners, it would appear we can only watch and wait for the sounds of farang laughter. Has anyone else got some view about this? Is it only my carpet slippers, smoking jacket and I that thinks this is wrong? Is there any legal recourse here worth taking (joking) Class action suit(e) hahaha well lets see what happens. :o

The Discovery channel is channel 47 and is included in the gold package. You should be receiving it and if you are not, it would appear that they didn't understand your request. The Discovery A La Carte package, which she probably thought you are inquiring about, is available only by paying extra (starting in August). I would have a Thai speaker call and get a better explanation as you should be getting the Discovery channel now. I still receive it.

So you called up and spoke in English and failed to communicate effecively with a Thai telephone operator.

Long suffering? I've a feeling it's going to go on an awful lot longer.
