Police has arrested a Swedish man who overstayed his visa in by over seven years in Chon Buri, Thailand. He is also accused of defrauding local Thai people for money.

The Immigration Bureau arrested the 50-year-old Swede, Lennart Alexander, at a rental house in the Si Racha district of Chon Buri.

He was initially charged with overstaying his visa by 2,610 days, which is about seven years. He arrived in Thailand via Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok on January 7, 2016.

Does not look happy  ????

So instead of building a case of multiple fraud, prosecuting and potentially sending him to prison for several years of hard time before deportation, this conman criminal just gets booted out.  He has plenty of other countries to choose from, to start afresh, to set up his fraudulent, swindling ways and start fleecing others again.

The ban on re-entering Thailand not a huge punishment. Just means a change of location.  Seems the easiest way to get rid of a problem quickly here, is just to boot these criminals out, just means moving the problem (him) elsewhere and new victims.  Kick the can down the road.

If I was the conman, I'd be chuckling to myself and rubbing my hands together to scheme where to go next.

According to the article he didn't pay his landlady any rent! And she went to the cops!

"The landlady told the police, that she never received any rent from him"

What did he think was going to happen??????

I am a fellow swede, and I say as you guys do.

Let this ars-h:le go to jail for a long time....

Let's see him con himself out of this mess now, with conmen I'd say throw the book at them Thai style and let him be in jail long enough to lean Thai speak, read and write fluently.

and give him an extra dime/10 years...he earned it

They keep weeding these miscreants out on a regular basis. Makes you wonder just how many of these big overstayers are still out there and who will set the final record overstay . Not even sure what it is at the moment but more than seven years.

Hopefully they will take some action against him for the people he took money from.  Not just deport him.

That's  because they removed his VR headset before taking his picture.

I'm all for keeping people like this in prison until they pay every penny back and then sentence him for the crime

Perhaps had she done the TM30 they could have come get him sooner?

Interesting it took them 7 years to figure out he has no money? Or maybe he has, I believe some rich people is the biggest Cheap Charlies you can ever meet.

Yes I read that surely he must have lived elsewhere 7 yrs not paying rent seems very strange how she would let it go for that long.

Not much of a conman.  He should have got some dirt on the landlady and threaten to publish it.

final record overstay

I had a Swedish friend that was on overstay since 1974.

Unfortunately he died of old age last year.

Every time the local immigration had a new boss they picked him up.

Two hours later the mayor and some other important people came and got him free.

He drove the local school bus in the 70s, so he knew everybody.

That will take some beating. Just shows , friends in high places are very useful .

'apprehended at a rented property in the Si Racha district of Chon Buri'

Damn, I was hoping it might be my neighbour who has turned his house into a private bar & brought shame on his country whilst sitting under the Swedish flag.

At weddings and funerals we sat at the same table closest to the important people, so thanks to my friend I'm also known now.
