WITH cheers from Bangkok commuters, Seacon Square shopping centre unveiled Thailand’s first solar air-conditioned bus stop right in front of the complex in an effort to conserve energy and protect the environment, Matichon newspaper said.

 

In a collaboration with Cool Cool Co., Ltd. and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, 3 million baht was invested in building “Sabuy Square” pilot-project air-conditioned bus stop powered by solar energy at Seacon Bus Station on Srinakarin road.

 

Within the 40-square-metre bus stop which can accommodate 40 passengers are various facilities including free Wi-Fi service, USB sockets for charging mobile phones, public drinking water dispensers, CCTV cameras connected to the management’s system, emergency alarm system (Panic Button), along with a display of the buses due to arrive there.

Amazing what can be done when attempted.  Why isn't every roof in Thailand covered with solar panels.   

 

Redirect those funds for F35s, subs, Gulfstreams, Airbuses from the military to support the energy needs instead.

Why aren't private people putting solar panels on the roof? I know it is a hassle if you want to register them correctly....but it is Thailand....you just do it and don't register it.
Putting enough solar panels to run 1-2 airconditions is easy to do, pays itself in 3 years.

I wonder how it will look like a year from now... 

Another to add to the list of life's reason's I moved away from the UK. Bus stop graffitti and the guarateed smell of urine. Should be on a political parties list of things to do for the people after the May 14th election. Well done Thailand; an excellent idea.

Yes but if the government does it only about 20% of the funds spent would go to the actual product.
