hUsh
I am planning to go to Australia next month to attend my cousin's wedding. She has sent me invitation letter, supporting documents, etc. for my tourist visa application. Now, my company wants me to go to Australia to see our customers and do a little bit of market research. So now, I'm planning to do both at the same time. My question is should I apply for a tourist visa or business visa? Can I just use tourist visa while also visiting some customers? Or would business visa be a better option? Thanks in advance. hUsh
Mighty Mouse
my company wants me to go to Australia to see our customers and do a little bit of market research. Strictly speaking you are conducting your business whilst on a tourist visa. Irrespective of whether you derive direct personal payment for your market research whilst in Oz, your company is conducting its business through you. As such you would be in breach of the tourist visa conditions. Edited August 16, 2007 by Mighty Mouse

If Immigration even think you're going to work on a tourist visa, you'll be denied entry. As you'll have a business visa, what you do to fill in the 'spare' time is pretty much up to you. samran
one question, what is your nationality. If you are from a 'rich' country, you'll be able to apply for such a visa online, whether it be tourist of business. http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sheets/55eta.htm
peter991
samran: I have a dream one day Thailand passport holders will be added to the list of countries which can apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority). I was told today 95% of Thai people apply for Tourist Visas to Australia are accepted. Peter

So have to go through the whole process (not online), although not the first time to apply and get a visa.

Anyway, the reason I bought it up was that the OP didn't mention his or her nationality. It does affect the way the visa is issued.
hUsh
It does affect the way the visa is issued. Can you be more specifc on how? Thanks. I have applied for a tourist visa about 5-6years ago in Aus Embassy in Bkk and had no problems. However, I'm not sure how it is now for applications esp. for non-Thais.
