December 1, 2025Dec 1 Malaysia’s Firefly Airlines has launched direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap, joining a growing roster of carriers connecting Cambodia’s cultural capital to key regional hubs. A Firefly Boeing 737‑800 carrying 157 passengers landed safely at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport on Thursday, with services set to run three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, Tourism Minister Huot Hak said. The new route strengthens access to Siem Reap, home to the UNESCO‑listed Angkor Archaeological Park and Cambodia’s most popular tourist destination. The ancient complex, with 91 temples dating from the ninth to the 13th centuries, attracted about 765,518 international visitors in the first ten months of 2025, generating $35.5 million in ticket sales, according to Angkor Enterprise. Firefly’s arrival complements existing links operated by other airlines now landing in Siem Reap. Regional connections include Thai AirAsia and Bangkok Airways from Thailand, Cambodia Angkor Air on domestic and neighbouring routes, and VietJet Air and Vietnam Airlines from Vietnam. Additional services by carriers such as AirAsia help widen access for travellers from across Southeast Asia, reducing the need for stopovers and trimming journey times. Officials see expanded air connectivity as a crucial driver of tourism recovery, broadening the mix of visitors beyond traditional markets. More airlines mean more choice on schedules and fares, easier onward travel, and a smoother path for tour operators selling Angkor‑focused itineraries. For Siem Reap’s hotels, guides and small businesses, reliable flights translate into steadier bookings and stronger seasonal resilience. With Firefly now on the tarmac, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport is tightening its grip as the gateway to Cambodia’s heritage—pairing improved links with the enduring magnetism of Angkor Wat and its surrounding temples. -2025-12-01 ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français ThaiVisa, it's also in French
