Six ‘Filton 24’ Palestine Action political prisoners acquitted by jury

Six of the ‘Filton 24’ political prisoners were found ‘not guilty’ by a jury at Woolwich Crown Court by a jury which deliberated for more than 36 hours before failing to reach a verdict.

The ‘Filton 24’ were accused of causing £1 million worth of property damage to a factory operated by Israeli defence firm Elbit Systems in Bristol in August 2024. Elbit has been forced out of Britain.

After 18 months in prison on remand, all were found not guilty of aggravated burglary.

Samuel Corner has been kept in custody for a potential retrial as he was filmed and has admitted he struck a female police officer sledgehammer with which he had been destroying Israeli weapons.

This fractured her spine. He has been charged with causing “grievous bodily harm”. Every Palestine Action protest and sabotage have been nonviolent save for this most unfortunate occurrence.

Previous acquittals of climate activists similarly accused of property damage and public disorder, jurors were reminded of jury equity or jury nullification, demanding that jurors vote their conscience.

On Saturday 31 January, the first Palestine national march of the year took place in London. An estimated 100,000 people marched from Russell Square to Whitehall.
